    Well today or yesterday for some of you…....the 11th of July / Last week I was able to purchase my first 2 prints off this site and I am stoked to see them, can’t hardly wait so I am hoping they show up today…..although I really doubt it because it takes almost 2 weeks to get mail to me from Australia, I can still hope they come on my birthday right?? hehehe I just wanted to thank you all for making me feel so amazingly welcome here on the bubble, for the purchase of three of my cards, all the warm friendships that are forming, the beautiful feedback and the amazing artwork you all share with me. / Such an amazing place to be!!!!     (happy dance happy dance!) Only a short 8 days after placing my order my goodies have arrived!! Pretty impressive considering the postie had to trek through Tassie Devil infested hills to get here! The quality of everyones prints is amazing Had I a camera right now I would post you all a picture of me grinning like a cheshire cat with all my wonderful images… alas that is not to be. Jeff, Heaven turned out… well… heavenly ;) The smallest shade of noise but not enough to detract from its overall beauty. However House on a Lake II is absolute MAGIC!! Think I will be keeping that one for myself ;) On a side note… I will be changing from my username to my real name. Still the same me, but my Mum wants to order some stuff and she wants the name she gave me on them and well… being as she endured 16 hours of labour and 34 years of angst raising me… who am I to say no? Dont let yourself get confused though – I have been Bella for so long online though that I actually answer to it in real life – so either will do! =)) Finally… a big congratulations to all the winners and runners up of theReal Photography Challenge What a wonderful comp with well deserving winners!!! Peace Out / Rhana {{shudders}}

    Got home today, to find the Leica sitting on my door stop (thank goodness no one came walking past). I can’t believe it made it here so fast, so credit to the RB team well done guys. It was well wrapped and took a good 10 minutes to remove from it’s bubblewrap safehaven. Katie took a few shots of the remove process, but since the house isn’t clean they have been censored out (lol). But she did take a few of my getting aquainted with my new baby and things got pretty intense from the outset. It’s a gorgeous little beast. So after a few snaps were taken I took it into my Den for a introductory photoshoot, no I don’t have film yet so I couldn’t use it, it was the Leica doing the modeling :) Hope you don’t mind me sharing a few of my images with you, and again a HUGE thanks to the RB staff, Brian Murray and everyone here! (And I don’t even have a rubber duckie for it to pose with!). Cheers, / Craig Craig obligatory cheesy grin, Canvas on the wall (yes yellow walls eek), card and the gorgeous Leica in hand. / It was Love at first sight, a deep mechanical magnatism / The Photoshoot begins (strobist style) / Isn’t it cute ? / “Come on, smile for the camera!” / Ok then just one more! /

    Just thought I’d send a quick shout saying I’ve arrived in Rome yesterday safely. Hehe, this art community is like a family; my parents had asked me to e-mail them ASAP once I arrived in Rome. My landlady has asked me to be very careful because I’m very young and Italy can be dangerous (I wonder if she knows how old I really am – I’m a shorty so I tend to look younger than my actual age). She tells me I should get a cell phone so I can call her if I’m in trouble outside, and to never come back home by myself late at night (although considering the nature of my program of study and where I’m living, I doubt I can avoid that) etc. etc… I have a lot on my plate now and need time to get used to living here; but for now I thought I should also inform my RB “family” that I have arrived safely; and thanks to all of you who bid me your farewell wishes :) Ciao!

    Hello! We’ve been working on our challenge software for several months now and today we’re taking the wraps off. You can see an example of the challenge software here and you can see a summary of all challenges on RedBubble here. The thinking behind challenges is that they should be fun, a way for you to discover new work and a catalyst for action. The challenge software will be available to any group that would like it – just e-mail Jo and she’ll make it happen. We’ve also been working on RedBubble books behind the scenes – and today Paul is releasing the first RedBubble book. The book can be purchased here. The thinking behind this limited release is for us to test the quality (which we’re very happy with) and logistics before we hit the go button on books more generally. The timing on the site wide release of books is yet to be locked down – it really depends on how long other things take and how quickly I can hire some more people to help us build the website faster. On that front – Xavier and Peter are moving to San Francisco in two weeks. We’ll be looking to hire a few folks to keep us company … at the moment we’re looking to hire an Office Manager and a range of technical folks (Front End Developer and Back End Developer) so we can build faster. If you’re living in San Francisco and would like to know more drop Peter an e-mail and I can send you the job descriptions. Ciao, Peter

  • Calendars have arrived ... and a lot of other stuff

    Hello! We have a jammed packed release today! Calendars: We’ve made calendars available for public sale. Just in time for calendar buying season. Anyone can make a calendar ... it’s easy! Challenges: We’ve released an update today that should speed up the voting in challenges (we removed the animation). Over the next few months we’ll be doing more tweaks to the challenges – as we incorporate your feedback (e.g. we’ll introduce the ability to see multiple entries whilst voting). Forums: We’re testing out a moderated forum idea this week. From time to time there are heated discussions in the forums … we don’t want to shut these discussions down as they can be some of the most interesting and informative discussions. But we do want them to remain civil and constructive. We want people to ‘play nice’. So we’re testing the idea that some forum threads can be flagged as ‘moderated’ – that is each comment is reviewed prior to being made public. The folks that will help with the reviewing are the staff of RB and a range of volunteers from the community. We’ll test this idea out for a few weeks – and see how it goes! Most Helpful Bubbler: Jo’s running search this week to find the Most Helpful Bubbler. There are so many people who really make this community the supportive and fun place it is. Let’s get together and recognize them for what they contribute. Nominate another member or host and they could win a special prize pack worth US$100 tailored especially for their tastes. Plus a special featured page in their honor. Plus an interview on their creative journey to be published in the Daily Wrap. Got someone is mind? Nominate them by email with 50-100 words describing why they are the most helpful bubbler. Then keep it a big juicy secret so that they get an extra special surprise when we announce the shortlisted nominees next week. RedBubble Challenges: “Compassion, Friendship and Courage” is in the final design stages and should be going on sale soon. Your work looks and reads beautifully. “The City” is now open for images and writing submissions. Get shuffling as you only have 13 days to submit work. And the publication after that will be ‘Nude” so start preparing suitable written and visual work. It will open for submissions in about 3-4 weeks. Here’s a few of my favourites … There’s also a few comings and goings this week. The RB tech team is metamorphosing as we establish an office in San Francisco. Not all the wonderful people who’ve worked on the website are staying with RB and this week I’d like to say a very fond farewell to Justin and Ben. Justin has been with RB since the very early days (2 years ago) ... and he was just the most wonderful person to work with! We wish him all the very best with his next venture. Ben has been with RB since the start of this year – and his dry and laconic sense of humour will sorely be missed. Thank you both! / On the flip side I’d like to welcome Jason to RB – who has joined RB as our sales and marketing guru. Jason has spent more than 10 years marketing and selling on the Internet – and his role with RB is to sell more of your wonderful work (and helping you to sell your work). Welcome Jason. Ciao for this week, - Peter

    I wanted to start out this journal entry by giving thanks to a few bubblers who (for reasons I will never quite understand) purchased something of mine recently. First off, a while back an exceptionally talented lady by the name of RAVENSOUL purchased a print of LONELY AT THE BOTTOM That’s right, I said a PRINT! This woman shelled out a nice little chunk of change for this thing and not only am I thankful, but extremely flattered as well. be sure to check out her work. Really amazing stuff. Another talented person of the farer sex by the name of MICHELLE WHELAN dropped some cash on a EVIL 80’s ACTION FIGURES T-shirt! Michelle does a lot of interesting stuff worth taking a look at, but her Transformer shots have always been my favorites. Lastly, the multi-talented songstress TANIA ROSE plunked down some dough on a MY GOOD BUDDY CARROT NOSE CARD not too long ago, to which I am of course grateful. Be sure to check out her work, and her music as her voice is really something special. Recently I’ve been putting out a lot of T-shirts with a lot of goofy little characters on them. Well, I’ve taken the characters and put them into a calendar that I actually think it pretty cool. (Not to toot my own horn or anything.) FROM THE DIGITAL FILES OF SPACEKID The calendar features twelve months of twelve funky aliens, each accompanied by a story about what happened when SpaceKid met them. The stories range from funny, somewhat funny, to so weird that they are kind of funny – and each one is extremely KID FRIENDLY. (Though, if a jaded old sack like me can enjoy them, then I suppose just about anyone can). If you’re in the mood for something a bit different when it comes to your days of the year, then I think this could be right up your alley! Alright, that’s enough pathetic schilling for the day, I think it’s time for bed. Oh, before I go, I’m on Facebook now, so if anyone wants to look me up and send me a friend request be my guest. I won’t ignore it…maybe. Steve!

    It has been a long torturous wait, but my 5D Mark II arrived today along with 2-8GB CF cards…..... So now waiting for the battery to charge…..... but there is light at the end of the tunnel! Hopefully I can get out and take a few shots of the snow predicted for tomorrow. I am torn however about my 40D – do I keep it as a back up or sell it? More to come as the drama unfolds! :-) A big thank you to all my watchers. I am off work this week and still in catch up mode both here and on Deviantart. Wishing everyone the best for the New Year! My cards arrived. I found them waiting on the fence. Tinker was already having a good poke around at them. She reckons she looks a lot like the second one from the left…maybe if she turns her head a tad more…. / Okay, once I managed to get them from Tinkers clutches I sat them down at the table for a spot of lunch….while I was making the sandwhiches they had a game of cards…I really don’t trust the cowboy dude…he looks like he may cheat!!! / Turns out he was the dealer…so hmmmm…. / Once everycard had eaten they all sat around the camp fire telling stories. I’m so happy my book, Black Sea Romania did arrive even sooner than i hoped, it took 8 days to get here, heh they said from 10 to 15 so i wasn’t expecting it so early! Anyway i’m very very pleased with the quality of my photos, they look exactly as they do on my computer, it’s the first time, i did see something of my own printed and i can’t say it’s “too dark, bad colors” etc :) for me it’s just awesome, to say the least, and trust me, i’m not the type that’s easily “satisfied” heh my friends know that :D Anyway as i promised i will show you pictures of it :D here they are! Happy Holidays everyone, and have a lovely Christmas! Bogdan
