During a relatively peaceful 2002 protest against the World Bank in Washington, D.C., anti-war demonstrators began to change the situational climate of the march. Tensions between protesters and police, who were expecting a violent demonstration, began to rise. Police began to arrest everyone that they managed to surround inside Pershing Park, guilty, as well as innocent bystanders alike. In relative anticipation of the police’s reaction, this young man wrote the telephone numbers of civil defense lawyers on his arms before the demonstrations even began. Pershing Park, Washington D.C. whats funny to me about this photo is that I had a fairly decent camera, canon something, roughly 300 dollars US, had it three years and never used it. Bob was the first thing I decided to shoot (this was 2002). I had no idea what I was doing, I couldn’t focus well, I didn’t know what apature was, and yet, this is one of my favorite photos Ive ever taken. / I had a great deal more photographs of this set-up, but they were developed and the negatives have been gone for years, and the proofs themselves, they probably disappeared around the few years where I had 4-5 roommates at a time. I’m glad he didn’t pose for me while we did this, I think it wouldn’t have turned out as well if he did.
For my dear friend pinkyjain there are no limitations on taking action for animals. From writing letters and signing petitions to creating artwork and even being arrested, Pinky has proven her dedication to animal rights time and again. This design is to celebrate the life and spirit of Pinky ~ get this shirt and wear it proudly! / / I know I will. Arrested Expansion is a symbolic scene that depicts a combination of self-excluding objects that might not be present in real life. Objects in the secluded room make the viewer feel claustrophobic and unreal, which might be compared to someone’s mental delusion based on a medical condition. Image is a mixture of photo stock with some 2D vectors, and 3D objects. Photoshop, 3ds max, Illustrator. / The most common cause of cardiac arrest is a heart rhythm disorder or arrhythmia called ventricular fibrillation (VF). The heart has a built-in electrical system. When a contraction happens, blood is pumped. But in ventricular fibrillation, the electrical signals that control the pumping of the heart suddenly become rapid and chaotic. As a result, the lower chambers of the heart, the ventricles, begin to quiver (fibrillate) instead of contract, and they can no longer pump blood from the heart to the rest of the body. If blood cannot flow to the brain, it becomes starved of oxygen, and the person loses consciousness in seconds. It has been said that the body is the cathedral of the soul. In this painting the fallen figure, be it me or you, or the Christ before resurrection, has been shown without flesh to accentuate the relationship between the rib cage of man and the ribs of the church behind. In this case the church is real. It is the Romanesque church of the Santa Maria Monestary in Alcobaca, Portugal. The architecture is Cistercian with the choir area dating from the early 1200’s AD. The city in the background (left) is Concord, New Hampshire, where I lived and worked for many years before moving to Windham, NH recently. “The Cathedral” has been featured in the group “Hand painted or drawn Buildings and architecture”. / Calendars for Friends Surreal Paintings Calendar / Surreal Watercolors Calendar Glacier National Park Calendar / Roses Calendar / Works Featured in Red Bubble Groups

The shot is a bit too blurry for my liking, but it gives a sense of the tension that was felt that day. Shot on bulk rolled Ilford 100 with Nikon N90s Pershing Park, Washington D.C. This is my garage sale rescued 12 year old Manx, Pebbles caught in the act of removing my t-shirts from the dresser drawer. She is still a kitten at heart and about the size of one. She was rescued by myself and my daughter from a garage sale in Winnipeg, Manitoba, tied to a tree with a piece of string, and a FREE sign near her. Best garage sale buy I ever got! By the way, she and Burton, my other tabby are constantly causing me to replace my t-shirts back into the drawer. They do this about once a week usually unseen. This time she got caught!

The aim of every artist is to arrest motion, which is life, by artificial means and hold it fixed so that a hundred years later, when a stranger looks at it, it moves again since it is life. / ~William Faulkner

This fella wore a Marshall’s badge and I spent a lot of mental time thinking of ways an old lady could get herself arrested. I didn’t come up with anything feasible, and beside the lock up was right out in the open. I added a bit of texture to get some age into the pic. The Rendezvous of the Gunfighters in Tombstone, AZ brought forth a whole new cast of characters over the weekend. Unfortunately, one had to work very hard at catching thought provoking and candid shots of these reenactors as most were very camera conscious and constantly struck “poses.” Diligence paid off. 193 views / Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18 Featured in The World As We See It 9/27/09 / Featured in 50+ Group 9/27/09 / Featured in Strictly Human Faces 9/16/09 / Featured in Visual Artists of Green Valley 9/14/09 / Featured in Men Appreciation 9/13/09 / Featured in Cowboy/Cowgirl Art 9/13/09 Featured in Out of the Past 9/15/09 / Featured in The Wild West Show 9/11/09
