During a relatively peaceful 2002 protest against the World Bank in Washington, D.C., anti-war demonstrators began to change the situational climate of the march. Tensions between protesters and police, who were expecting a violent demonstration, began to rise. Police began to arrest everyone that they managed to surround inside Pershing Park, guilty, as well as innocent bystanders alike. In relative anticipation of the police’s reaction, this young man wrote the telephone numbers of civil defense lawyers on his arms before the demonstrations even began.

whats funny to me about this photo is that I had a fairly decent camera, canon something, roughly 300 dollars US, had it three years and never used it. Bob was the first thing I decided to shoot (this was 2002). I had no idea what I was doing, I couldn’t focus well, I didn’t know what apature was, and yet, this is one of my favorite photos Ive ever taken. / I had a great deal more photographs of this set-up, but they were developed and the negatives have been gone for years, and the proofs themselves, they probably disappeared around the few years where I had 4-5 roommates at a time. I’m glad he didn’t pose for me while we did this, I think it wouldn’t have turned out as well if he did.

Arrested Expansion is a symbolic scene that depicts a combination of self-excluding objects that might not be present in real life. Objects in the secluded room make the viewer feel claustrophobic and unreal, which might be compared to someone’s mental delusion based on a medical condition. Image is a mixture of photo stock with some 2D vectors, and 3D objects. Photoshop, 3ds max, Illustrator. / The most common cause of cardiac arrest is a heart rhythm disorder or arrhythmia called ventricular fibrillation (VF). The heart has a built-in electrical system. When a contraction happens, blood is pumped. But in ventricular fibrillation, the electrical signals that control the pumping of the heart suddenly become rapid and chaotic. As a result, the lower chambers of the heart, the ventricles, begin to quiver (fibrillate) instead of contract, and they can no longer pump blood from the heart to the rest of the body. If blood cannot flow to the brain, it becomes starved of oxygen, and the person loses consciousness in seconds. It has been said that the body is the cathedral of the soul. In this painting the fallen figure, be it me or you, or the Christ before resurrection, has been shown without flesh to accentuate the relationship between the rib cage of man and the ribs of the church behind. In this case the church is real. It is the Romanesque church of the Santa Maria Monestary in Alcobaca, Portugal. The architecture is Cistercian with the choir area dating from the early 1200’s AD. The city in the background (left) is Concord, New Hampshire, where I lived and worked for many years before moving to Windham, NH recently.

Tensions between protesters and police, who were expecting a violent demonstration, started to rise. Police began to arrest everyone that they managed to surround inside Pershing Park, guilty, as well as innocent bystanders alike. These demonstrators were pulled from the crowd, handcuffed and thrown on an awaiting Metro bus. No one was read their rights as bystanders looked on in horror.

I was proceeding in a North Easterly direction through the town of Ebbw Vale when I spotted this, loitering with intent, on the police station wall.

As an artist, I feel this is my best work. It is a self-portrait that leads off into the future, painted years ago in what I would now call my dark period. My life has changed a lot since then, and I have overcome many of the dark fears and subconscious memories, many of which are still hidden from my waking life. There is a lot of symbolism here. And, enough so that for once I will just shut my mouth and let you read it as you see it. I still enjoy seeing its design, attention to detail, and even if dark, it’s clear light. I hope you enjoy it as well. Thanks, Dave.

This is a great painting for a child’s bedroom or play area. There is a small man floating in the yellow bowl, probably dreaming, with all of his childhood imaginary friends surrounding him.

Wow, what a day; I took my daughter up to Harrisburg to take her Civil Service test and figured I’d get some photo time in while wating. I was walking around the Capital buildings shooting anything and everything when a beat cop stopped me and asked for ID. I asked if I had taken any pictures I wasn’t supposed to and he said, “yes of some secure areas” Turns out a shot I took was too close to something highly secure and they had been watching me the whole time on cameras stationed throughout the area. / Well after they had ran my ID and found out I wasn’t a terrorist or known felon, they just had me show them all the pictures I took and the cop deleted ones that were no nos. Funny thing, they seemed more appologetic about having to detain me then I was about having taken pictures I shouldn’t. Bottom line was any pictures of structures, buildings etc from a distance was ok just don’t zoom in on anything that looks secure. That’s one for the photography annuls.
