The river Arno, Pisa, Italy / . /
Firenze on a tranquil spring afternoon. This is the only time I have managed to see the River Arno calm enough to capture reflections. It is certainly in direct contrast to the hustle and bustle traversing the River on The Ponte Vecchio, where the glistening jewels in the shop windows don’t measure up to the beauty of the renaissance city itself.
The Arno is a river in region of Tuscany, Italy, that crosses all the region from Mount Falterona (near the city of Arezzo, in Casentino area), to Pisa where it enters Tyrrhenian Sea. It is the biggest river in the region. It crosses Florence too, where it passes below the Ponte Vecchio. The river flooded the city regularly in historical times, the last occasion being the famous flood of 1966. While classified as a river, the Arno is sometimes described as having a torrent-like behaviour, because it can easily go from almost dry to near-flood in a few days. New dams built upstream of Florence have greatly alleviated the problem in the last years. /

This was taken in Arnos Vale Cemetary in Bristol. / The original is a portrait shot and I am struggling with the crop (rule of thirds etc)........so if anyone has any advice on how to better this…..process wise or crop wise then please dont hesitate! Edit – Thanks to prbimages advice I have had another go at this and I am much happier! / Thanks
From the Ponte Vecchio in Florence, this view looking up the Arno with the sunset splashing its golden glow across the riverfron and buildings. /
As the sun sets over Florence, the Arno takes on a magical aura, lighting the end of the day with pastel tones.
