One-horned Rhinoceros…..... Asian One-horned Rhinoceros is a large mammal found in Nepal, Bhutan, and in Assam, India. It is confined to the tall grasslands and forests in the foothills of the Himalayas. The Indian Rhinoceros can run at speeds of up to 25 mph for short periods of time and is also an excellent swimmer. It has an excellent sense of hearing and smell and relatively poor eyesight. In size it is equal to that of the white rhino in Africa. Not including the white rhino, it is the largest of all rhinos, and probably the one with the best armor, along with the Javan rhino’s armor. This rhino is a major success of conservation. Only 100 remained in the early 1900s and now their population has increased but even so they are still endangered.

This one is a COLLABORATION with my astounding photographer friend, Raymond Kerr—-from the Isle of Anglesey, UK. / I began with his wonderful image “AFTER THE BATTLE” please go to his page to see the original photo. http://www.redbubble.com/people/raymondo/art/2160412-2-after-the-battle I then joined it with a shot of my awesome son Matty, shot this Thanksgiving. Then I did an extensive amount hand drawing, such as the dragon on top of the tower, and many of the clouds. I use Corel Painter X to do my drawing. A Warrior’s work--is never done / To stand thy ground-and never run / For in that day-when you dart away / You grant a Dragon-unhindered sway / To plot, and pillage-and kill again / A Warrior is-thy greatest friend / So raise thy head—thine eyes-thy sword / Trust not thy flesh-but in the Lord / For he alone-can smite the beast / From the greatest-to the least / But choosing yet-to use a man / To execute-His Holy plan / Weary is-the Warriors way / A darkened path-on which to stay / For only in-a dragon kill / Do we fulfill --the Father’s will.

Modeled after an iron Ressi Men style mempo (Japanese Samurai battle mask). The mask design is from the Momoyama period in Japan and was employed by the samurai to inflict debilitating fear upon enemies whom they faced in close combat. / The design is off-white on white to simulate the face emerging from the mist or fog.

The Abbey was founded in 1202 and continued in use until 1790 when it closed. It has since been recognised as ‘monument historique’ and now is a major tourist attraction in Brittany. Fuji Finepix S9500, 3 frame HDR, ISO 100, f11. Processed in Photomatix and CS3 and converted to Black and White.
