  • It is one of a series of photo-manips I made using several shots of a rolly-polly aka pill bug (Armadillidium vulgare).

  • Hand up, who DIDN’t play with rolly-pollys (rolie-polies?) aka pillbugs as a kid? Pill woodlouse (Armadillidium vulgare) is a crustacean – so technically it’s a land dwelling shrimp… I guess…

  • I bet you didn’t know pillbugs can be trained to do that… ...the series continues…

Edit: and now available as a T-shirt! I made it a fem-shirt – the motif seems to be in the right spot so hopefully my pillbugs will get some action!

  • Inspired by MC Escher’s masterpiece “Krempeltierchen”. Pill millipede, Glomeris marginata.

  • This is one of the designs from my coloring book, ‘Cosmic Animal Wisdom—A Coloring Experience For All Ages’, which is a collection of 50+ of my animal drawings, each with a simple statement of that animal’s wisdom. i drew all the designs with sharpies (permanent markers), scanned them in, and they were printed into a coloring book. Armadillo inspires us to put up boundaries for our own self-protection.

  • A little known fact is that this guy also invented the monocycle in 1467.
