This beautiful image was taken from my home in Tucson, Arizona just moments after a thunderstorm. I enjoy just watching the thunderstorms roll in during our summer monsoons. The sky is full of so much action and changes so quickly.
3d digital art of a cowboy and his horse at dusk on the ‘Arizona desert. Made with Bryce 3d.
This beautiful sky changed dramatically in just a few minutes. The clouds were the left over moisture from a pacific storm that deluged the west coast of the US. We just had the sunset. This is what the sky looked like in just a short time-

Background Information: / The Grand Canyon is a steep-sided gorge carved by the Colorado River in the U.S. state of Arizona, and parts of Nevada. It is largely contained within the Grand Canyon National Park — one of the first national parks in the United States. President Theodore Roosevelt was a major proponent of preservation of the Grand Canyon area, and visited on numerous occasions to hunt and enjoy the scenery. Longstanding scientific consensus has been that the canyon was created by the Colorado River over a period of six million years, but research released in 2008 suggests a much longer 17 million year time span. The canyon is 277 miles (446 km) long, ranges in width from 4 to 18 miles (6.4 to 29 km) and attains a depth of more than a mile (1.6 km). From inside the Grand Canyon - if you are camping - it becomes a familiar sight to witness the orange glow on the walls. It will last for an hour, or so, during sunset, and constantly change until there is that final minute…. where you practically hold your breath hoping that the final rays of light will not disappear too quickly. When the light stops hitting the top of the wall, then comes a sudden darkness deep within. But wait! The stars!!!!

This Panoramic image of Monument Vallley was constructed in CS3 with 5 seperate images. There was a slight interuption between the left and right side of the image hense the slightly varied lighting. BUT the overall image I find amazing. / Taken with the Nikon D70.
Arizona sunset that looks like fire /
Here is another of my extensive images of Monument Valley. I seem to have gone nuts that day with the shutter, but I have quite a number of good images to show for it. This image has been processed from 2 RAW shots, in Photomatix and given a light HDR effect. They were then stiched in CS3 and given final adjustments in curves and a light crop to make the image complete. The photo’s were taken with a Nikon D70. I can’t wait to return and shoot the Valley again with my D300. Just have to find the time…
Another beautiful Arizona sunset. /
I’ve lived in Canada all my life, but love visiting the American Southwest ( I must have been a tarantula or scorpion in a former life). This one taken at sunset just north west of Tucson Arizona. Comments appreciated.
