  • Antelope Canyon. This is actually flopped on its side because I like the wave feel it creates this way.

  • Black Friday and the girls decided to head out at 4AM to shop and I headed for the Grand Canyon to watch the sunrise. Even though it was 15 and windy I stll think got the better end of the deal.

  • Let there be light, and there was light. And it was good …... This image was taken in Upper Antelope Canyon near Page, Arizona. This sandstone cavern is located on the Navajo Indian Reservation and is only accessible via four-wheel drive truck and with a Navajo guide. There are a few holes in the ceiling, which let in this perfect beam of light. This place will be visited again, there also is a Lower Antelope Canyon which I didn’t get to see – YET …... My art with 1000+ views

  • This is my favorite image which I captured a year ago on an 8-day backpack into the incredible canyon. It was my first trip there, and I was with non-photographer/hard-core hiker types. So, I had to shoot on-the-go with very little time to think about my shots. This was the only day that we saw any clouds, and it really helped make the photo work. I didn’t realize this at the time, but the lines really draw the viewer in to the art. Lucky me. I leave tomorrow for another week-long backpack into the Grand Canyon!

  • I spent last week in the wilderness, backpacking through the inner depths of the Grand Canyon. A small side trail led to “Ribbon Falls” from Bright Angel stream on the North Rim. So I went. The place was a magical oasis in the hot and arid desert. I photographed for an hour and then left. I was not satisfied. I had to return. Several days later with sore feet and eager to begin my 4000 foot climb out to civilization, I passed this side trail again and went in for a second look at the falls. The sun was different, and so was the mood. I “felt” the place much better this time and “let the picture take me” this time. I like the result.

  • Standing alone late evening as a witness to the Testimony of Time this sheer cliff face, battered, scared stood a casuality to the erosion of time and its environment around it. If we could see over the decades what it had witnessed it certainly would be breathtaking to say the least. The Grand Canyon is a steep-sided gorge carved by the Colorado River in the United States in the state of Arizona. It is largely contained within the Grand Canyon National Park — one of the first national parks in the United States. President Theodore Roosevelt was a major proponent of preservation of the Grand Canyon area, and visited it on numerous occasions to hunt and enjoy the scenery. A map of the Grand Canyon and surrounding areas, circa 1908.Longstanding scientific consensus has been that the canyon was created by the Colorado River over a six million year period. The canyon is 277 miles (446 km) long, ranges in width from 4 to 18 miles (6.4 to 29 km) and attains a depth of over a mile (1.83 km) (6000 feet). Nearly two billion years of the Earth’s geological history have been exposed as the Colorado River and its tributaries cut their channels through layer after layer of rock while the Colorado Plateau was uplifted. The “canyon began in the west, followed by another that formed in the east. Eventually, the two broke through and met as a single majestic rent in the earth some six million years ago. The merger apparently occurred where the river today bends to the west, in the area known as the Kaibab Arch. • The Colorado winds thru the Grand Canyon Canon 40d / 100mm /

  • Grand Canyon National Park, through US National Parks This Image was taken at Yaki Point during a trip to Grand Canyon. Yaki Point is one of the most beautifull lookouts on the south rim and if you ask me the best on during sunrise! / I was there sometime between 4am and 5am in the morning to do some scouting with my flashlight since it was my first day at the canyon. Although I couldn’t see much of the canyon yet the tree you see in the foreground instantly appealed to me as a nice framing. After some more scouting I came back there, set up my tripod and waited, enjoying the sunrise. / I was lucky the strom you see building up on the horizon waited long enough to let the sun through for some minutes. Not much later it was all hung over and snowing. / I love this shot because it seems like everything fit together for me. The time window for this shot was so short and it seems I also selected the right place :-) I came back there the following two days and just didn’t have the same magical light! and after more scouting also didn’t find a better place, at least for me. kind regards, / Michael also available:

  • This Photo I took before sunset on the south rim of the grand canyon. I went to Pima point which is near heremits rest for this shot! Heard about hopi was great for sunset but If you ask me Pima point or mohavee are the better ones and you are more private there! regards, / Michael

  • Took this photo from Mohave point at the south rim. Wanted to do some nice sunset shots this evening but the incoming storm was to fast. Soon after this shot it was snowing on the south rim too! kind regards, / Michael

  • Shot on the Grand Canyon during a storm building up from the north rim. Here it has already spanned the bridge to the south and theres not much left for the sun to shine through. But as I processed this image it was nice to see what shape the clouds where forming with the canyon ;-)
