Webb Bridge is down-to-earth, a project Melbourne can be proud of, built among the superannuated towers of Docklands. It suggests, romantically, the fishing nets, cages, middens and naughty hosiery of the old wharfs. It is biological and ethereal, a stab in the dark and sculptural.

Dear William; Well honey its been 9 days I have been down here in the submersible, I’m studying the dolphins this month. I wish you were here to see them all interacting, its just amazing. They dont seem to be bothered with my presence anymore. / Ive been studying these beautiful creatures daily and the team wants to test their certain abilities and game behavior. We placed large cubed objects on the floor of the ocean to which they could be tested for long extended periods of time. It didnt take long until they did accept the objects, or even the lights going on when they entered them. Our little friends appeared to love this one in front of me the most and are joyously entertaining themselves daily with little games like, who can could turn through the cube the quickest. The elders are less likely to join in but remain near by. Perhaps their knowledge of such non sea elements are considered a breach of territory or considered a possible threat. / Well I better get back to work….Talk soon! / . / . / . / Journal Entry: June 12th, 2012 / Day 9…. / Quadrant 8 / Subjects: Ling’s Pod / Time: 2:34pm / Grouping: Ling’s pod has remained since dropping the cubes. No other pods have appeared. / Territorial Issues: Ling appears watchful of outside interference, even small fish / Flashing Light Reactions: Adults still unsettled, young adults intriqued / Gaming: The young adults appear most engaged while others try but end quickly, still unsure why / Emotional Stress: None at this time / Time of Cubing Interactions: Mostly between 10am & 4:40pm, seems feeding schedules counter the play activity. ©2007 Lisa C. A revised version of my ‘Middlesbrough Drops’ watercolour painting. The coal drops on the river Tees estuary, in the 1830’s. / In the foreground, is the Tees river ferry – which in those days, was a small, rowing boat. I love the daunting and weird, distant grey structures, ready to drop the coal upon the collier (coal) ships. My version of a Thomas Harrison Hair, 1837 watercolour. Watercolour and HB pencil.

The Custom House Tower is a skyscraper in McKinley Square, in the Financial District neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts I been asked, how this was done. Digital Art Compilations of 2 shots: / Sky taken by my Nikon D60 and tower which was taken with Canon Powershot S3 IS in AB mode and processed first as HDR, then 2 images was blended in PS Elements 6.0 , I used multiple layers to blend the colors, until they looked right to me. “Customs House Clock Tower” Customs House Clock Tower was WINNER of the challenge Outdoor Timepieces in the group Mood & Ambience … November 12, 2009 featured in That’s Entertainment on July 27, 2009 Challenge Win in Any Type of Timepiece – All Artwork Allowed on July 26, 2009 “Customs House Clock Tower” was featured in Majestic Massachusetts on May 31, 2009 May 18 , 2009 – Second place with 5 votes( same as winner) / in Clocks!!! Clocks!... But , after recording this event , I accidentally made an image private. After I realized that I made a mistake, I made it public again, but it not longer show up in the challenge, oooooooooooops! March 6, 200 8 – top 10 in clocks

Canary Wharf is a part of London that I’ve been meaning to visit for ages, but have always refrained due to various stories of photographers being hassled / frisked / manhandled by overzealous security personnel. It’s an area of London that I’ve visited a few times (mainly when I started web contracting back in 2007), and have always been fascinated by the “shininess” of the district – huge structures comprising of glass and steel, towering over the populace below. Today I took the plunge, hopped on a train with my camera and trusty Sigma 10-20mm, and started brazenly snapping away. Well, if you’re going to do something, you might as well do it properly is what I always say! This is by Canary Wharf station, and on the left is One Canada Place, sometimes known as Canary Wharf tower. Canon 400D, f11, 1/200, 14mm, ISO100 See more of my work at Dan Biggins Photography.

WINNER of the challenge Whitby Whitby / North Yorkshire, UK The History of Whitby Whitby has a wonderful history, a ruined abbey, a working harbour, a delightful collection of red-roofed pantile cottages, narrow cobbled streets, and claims to have the country’s best fish and chip shops. The town is also close to the scenic North York Moors National Park and the unspoilt fishing villages of Staithes and Robin Hood’s Bay. Whitby is divided in two by the River Esk. St Mary’s Church and Whitby Abbey are on the eastern headland. The Abbey is accessible by road, and also via 199 steps from the town to the summit. These steps have associations with Bram Stoker, as he based much of his Dracula novel here whilst staying in Whitby in 1890. Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (better know as Lewis Carroll) also set some of his work and poems in Whitby, as he was a regular visitor. The Abbey’s history dates back to 675 A.D. when St. Hilda founded a monastery. The present structure is from 1078 and is now in the care of English Heritage.
