  • Château de Chenonceau near the French village of Chenonceaux in the Loire Valley, is considered to be a true fairyland caste with its distinctive turrets, rooftops and the unique tower next t the castle. This specific view of the château is what makes it one of my favorite châteaus. • I met a fellow RedBubbler, Adam Mattel yesterday and we did a photo shoot together. It was a very enjoyable morning and a pleasure to meet a member that lives nearby. This is one the images captured along the Susquehanna river at Harrisburg, PA. This site was settled due to the founder Harris operating a ferry across the river. This has been my most popular image to date. It has been viewed over 900 times and is a favorite for 46 members of RB.

  • A revised version of my ‘Middlesbrough Drops’ watercolour painting. The coal drops on the river Tees estuary, in the 1830’s. / In the foreground, is the Tees river ferry – which in those days, was a small, rowing boat. I love the daunting and weird, distant grey structures, ready to drop the coal upon the collier (coal) ships. My version of a Thomas Harrison Hair, 1837 watercolour. Watercolour and HB pencil.

  • This is one of the many bridges crossing the Susquehanna River at Harrisburg, PA. The Susquehanna is nearly one mile wide at places near Harrisburg PA. This section of the river was picked by John Harris to establish a ferry operation, thus founding Harrisburg.

  • I took this photo on 07/13/06 on a vacation with my husband; we began in Redding, CA went over to the Northern CA coast and headed north…. went clear up to Tillamook, Oregon. We followed the shoreline all the way, on this wonderfully scenic trip. This is just one of many images which I am pleased to be able to share; I hope you enjoy….. / / / ___ / All The Materials Contained May Not Be Reproduced, Copied, Edited, Published, Transmitted Or Uploaded In Any Way Without My Permission. Built in 1936 at MP 141.68, just south of Newport is one of several toll-free bridges forming a part of the Oregon coast highway, US 101. This bridge is located in the city of Newport. YAQUINA BAY (NEWPORT) BRIDGE / The structure is a combination of both steel and concrete arches. The main span of the 3,223-feet structure is a 600-foot steel through arch flanked by two 350-foot steel deck arches. There are five reinforced concrete deck arch secondary spans on the south end of the steel arches and fifteen concrete deck girder approach spans. Decorative elements include ornamental spandrel deck railing brackets, fluted entrance pylons, and a pedestrian plaza with elaborate stairways leading to observation areas. / (Excerpt from: Oregon Department of Transportation, Oregon Coastal Highway Bridges) / / This is the image on the egov.Oregon.gov webpage.

  • I went over to my former home town of Totnes in South Devon UK.,this morning having checked that high tide was at 09,56 and all was still with the River Dart like a mirror and beautiful lateral warm light. A similar scene to my earlier Reflections of the Past image that was taken with my trusty old Nikon D100. Still getting accustomed to all the features on my recently purchased Nikon D300 but was more than pleased with the results of the images I took this morning, this one having little editing, just a slight perspective crop and a little sharpening. Nikon D300 / 18 – 70 @ 29mm / AP F16 for 1/13sec / CP Filter

  • Location: London UK

  • Time to try something different and I’d appreciate your honest feedback on this one please. Two highly reflective images taken in the portrait format, slightly cropped and reduced in size to fit on a black mask, total image size is 4500×3000. I took both of these images within minutes of one another from each side of the old bridge over the River Dart in my former home town Totnes, Devon. The PAST image is of the former warehouses and church converted to luxury riverside apartments, the PRESENT being a new block of colourful riverside houses recently built on the site of a former garage business. Nikon D300 / PAST – / F16 for 1/13sec / 25mm / PRESENT- / F16 for 1/20sec / 18mm / CP Filter

  • This well-known English village gets featured on everything from calendars to chocolate box lids! / This location also featured in the film Dr Doolittle which stared Rex Harrison. During this time a certain Ranulph Fiennes became offended by the construction of an ugly concrete dam built to create a harbour scene. Fiennes planned to demolish the dam. He used explosives which he later claimed to have obtained legitimately from the armoury. Using skills from a recently completed training course on evading search dogs by night, he escaped capture, but he and a guilty colleague were both subsequently traced. After a court case, Fiennes had to pay a hefty fine and he and his co-conspirator were discharged from the SAS. Fiennes was initially posted to another cavalry regiment but was then allowed to return to his regiment. I’m fortunate to live only a few miles away, so managed to capture this classic scene in the early morning before the tourist coaches arrived! • Notre Dame, Paris, captial city of France. The last in my Notre Dame series. I created six versions of this shot, trying different textures, colours and layers, but this was the first one that moved toward a theme or emotion that I wanted. It feels quite lonely and stripped of hope to me, but I’m sure it will have varied meaning to the individual. 8 layers of texture from www.deviantart.com free use stock – Amurrr. Lightened each layer, adjusted hue and colour levels, blended each with 3 layers of the photo, one b&w, one colour and one desaturated. Flattened image and further colour tweaking and adjusting.
