  • La Rue Obscure is the oldest street in the old town of Villefranche sur Mer on the French Riviera, between Nice and Monaco. It was built on virgin soil at the beginning of the 13th century. La Rue Obscure formed the basis of the rest of the town’s construction on the slopes rising from this coastal lane. It gave inhabitants of the town certain refuge against possible attacks. The ship captains who were forced by storms to anchor in the bay, could make necessary repairs in safety. La Rue Obscure also welcomed precious merchandise, such as wine, in its cellars.

  • It’s Paris, It’s the Louvre, It’s the Glass Pyramid from the Da Vinci Code. It’s also a 10-20mm lens and above all… a pleasure and privilege to have been there again!

  • Interior of the Pantheon in Paris, France. This was taken with a Canon DSLR EOS 350D camera. The Panthéon (Latin Pantheon, from Greek Pantheon, meaning “All the Gods”) is a building in the Latin Quarter in Paris, France. It was originally built as a church dedicated to St. Genevieve, but after many changes now combines liturgical functions with its role as a famous burial place. It is an early example of Neoclassicism, with a façade modelled on the Pantheon in Rome, surmounted by a small dome that owes some of its character to Bramante’s “Tempietto”. Located in the 5th arrondissement on the Montagne Sainte-Geneviève, the Panthéon looks out over all of Paris. Its architect, Jacques-Germain Soufflot, had the intention of combining the lightness and brightness of the gothic cathedral with classical principles. Soufflot died before his work was achieved, and his plans were not entirely followed. The transparency he had planned for his masterpiece was not attained. Nevertheless, it is one of the most important architectural achievements of its time and the first great neoclassical monument.

  • Angers, France /

  • I am a person who loves to travel – especially to France. I love water and I love the stillness at the end of the day. Honfleur is one of my favourite spots in France – this harbour is a photographer’s dream located on the northern coast in Normandy. My husband and I visit this beautiful town every time we travel to France and love to explore the fascinating streets filled with a variety of art galleries, jewellery stores, craft shops and boutiques. / I ordered a canvas print of this from RedBubble and it is my favourite piece of art on my walls! • SEGAL, FRANCE / / Driving into Segal after visiting the Castle of Bouillon, the house at the end of the road captured my attention and began to lure me. / I HAD TO GO INSIDE! Johan check that house out! lets go in and take some shots! INTERDIT! but Johan found a way around the back. The gate was ajar so we squeezed to get in. Homeless people had made part of it a semi residence, where exactly we could not see. / / It was a maze that went up and down and even further down the bowels of which lurked in the earth. We found a stairway that was the only way up. The stairway was burnt out it seemed as though the fire took the top floors only. We helped each other up and onto the second floor. There were no footprints in the ash and the smell of smoke still lingered. How long ago was the fire? no idea. It was very spooky, 3 floors above ground level and im not sure how many below but did not want to find out. /

  • This is actually the side of a circular building in La Defense, Paris. You can just see the security camera/lights at the top. I was hoping it would be lit up at night, but unless they weren’t working, when I got there later that night, it was all in darkness… Many thanks to the Shapes and Patterns group for the feature (September 2009). Many thanks to the Cityscapes and Skylines group for the feature (September 2009).

  • Sacre Coeur, Paris. The amazingly original basilica is located in Montmartre, leading to the highest point of Paris city. First constructed in 1875, it was not completed until 1914, due to a problematic law system that almost stopped construction entirely. Only saved by a loophole, construction finally continued to the end. I didn’t get to spend as much time here as I would normally like to, but the climb to the top of the tower was worth it for the incredible view of the city below. Original shot layered twice, with 3 textures, colour altering of each layer, blending of layers, further colour altering and an omni light effect.
