This was taken around the middle of the day from the center of the World Heritage listed Melbourne Exhibition Building. I used a 19mm equivalent lens in order to get the whole center piece in, and made a real effort to to stand as directly under the center, and pointing as straight up as possible. To give you some idea of height of the roof , the tiny coloured spots in the center are actually helium balloons that have ascended to the highest point in the building (click for the zoom view to see them better). ~ / Browse Images by Category : Snow Landscape Nature Urban

This shot was taken of the window of the original Black Springs Bakery building in Beechworth, Victoria, Australia. It has a very french provincial feel to it, though. This was taken in autumn with a Canon DSLR EOS 350D camera and a 18-55mm lens. This was featured in the Canon DSLR Group, Rural Around the Globe group, Windows and Doors Group, Falling Leaves group and the Nature’s Reclamation Group.

This is a building at the end of Rundle St Mall in the Adelaide CBD, Australia. I found the style to be so close to that of many neo gothic buildings in America, as seen in thousands of movies etc. I decided on a slightly ominous mood for this one, daytime darkness. Added two textures to give the feel of an old picture or movie still, taken from a magazine. I think this has a slight New York feel to it. Whitby / North Yorkshire, UK The History of Whitby Whitby has a wonderful history, a ruined abbey, a working harbour, a delightful collection of red-roofed pantile cottages, narrow cobbled streets, and claims to have the country’s best fish and chip shops. The town is also close to the scenic North York Moors National Park and the unspoilt fishing villages of Staithes and Robin Hood’s Bay. Whitby is divided in two by the River Esk. St Mary’s Church and Whitby Abbey are on the eastern headland. The Abbey is accessible by road, and also via 199 steps from the town to the summit. These steps have associations with Bram Stoker, as he based much of his Dracula novel here whilst staying in Whitby in 1890. Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (better know as Lewis Carroll) also set some of his work and poems in Whitby, as he was a regular visitor. The Abbey’s history dates back to 675 A.D. when St. Hilda founded a monastery. The present structure is from 1078 and is now in the care of English Heritage. PORTMEIRION is an Italianate resort village in Gwynedd, on the coast of Snowdonia in Wales. The village is located near Penrhyndeudraeth, on the estuary of the River Dwyryd, two miles southeast of Porthmadog, and one mile from the railway station at Minffordd, which serves both the narrow gauge Ffestiniog Railway and Arriva Trains Wales (Cambrian Line). / Portmeirion has served as a location for films and television shows, most famously serving as The Village in The Prisoner. / THE PRISONER is a 17-episode, British television series which was first broadcast in London from the 1st of October 1967 to the 4th of February 1968. Starring and co-created by Patrick McGoohan, it combined spy fiction with elements of science fiction, allegory, and psychological drama. / The series follows a British former secret agent who is held prisoner in a mysterious seaside village where his captors try to find out why he abruptly resigned from his job. Although sold as a thriller in the mould of McGoohan’s previous series, Danger Man (called Secret Agent in its U.S. release), the show’s combination of 1960s countercultural themes and surreal setting had a far-reaching effect on science fiction/fantasy programming, and on popular culture in general. Villa Borghese, Rome ! Italy ! Villa Borghese is a large landscape garden in the naturalistic English manner in Rome, containing a number of buildings, museums and attractions. It is the second largest public park in Rome (80 hectares or 148 acres) after that of the Villa Doria Pamphili. The gardens were developed for the Villa Borghese Pinciana (“Borghese villa on the Pincian Hill”), built by the architect Flaminio Ponzio, developing sketches by Scipione Borghese, who used it as a villa suburbana, a party villa, at the edge of Rome, and to house his art collection. The gardens as they are now were remade in the early nineteenth century.
