  • This image was taken @ Port Willunga at the remains of the old jetty. On a recent journey back to Port Willunga recently, I’d noticed that many of these posts had been burnt. A fun stunt at the time I suppose :( Best viewed on a black background. Images from Australia / Architecture / Images from Japan / Sunsets / Water Scenes

  • This is actually a sewage pumping station at New Brighton, Wirral, UK. Part of it is supported on these huge concrete pillars which go down deep into the sand on the beach below. On this particular day the tide was low, and i managed to capture the low sun creating these fantastic shadows onto the water and the concrete wall. It is built on the site of the old New Brighton pier which was demolished in 1963. / In its heyday New Brighton was a huge tourist attraction, with thousands of holiday makers travelling from all over the northwest and arriving by ferry at the pier. / Just a couple of hundred yards from the pier was the famous New Brighton Tower, the tallest in the country. It was even taller than Blackpool tower, but sadly, was demolished in 1921.

  • It must be an unwritten law that you can’t visit Southwold (UK’s Suffolk Coast) and not take a picture of the beach huts. The sky was really blue, but I wanted to draw the colour of the huts out even more by grayscaling the surroundings.

  • St. Mary’s Lighthouse is on the tiny St. Mary’s Island, just north of Whitley Bay on the coast of North East England. / The lighthouse and adjacent keepers’ cottages were built in 1898 by the John Miller company of Tynemouth, using 645 blocks of stone and 750,000 bricks. / During the 19th century there was an inn, known as the ‘Square and Compass’, on the island, run by a Mr. George Ewen. In 1895, after complaints about rowdy customers trespassing on nearby land, the landlord , Lord Hastings, had Mr. Ewen and his family evicted from the island.

  • This renovated stone house and byre must be the most photographed house on North Uist (Uist a Tuath). Situated overlooking Vallay Beach (Tràigh Bhalaigh) an amazing sandy bay. Many hundreds of these simple old stone houses stand abandoned throughout the Isles. Some are now being renovated – at considerable expense – often as holiday homes with all mod cons. This does not seem to be an original “blackhouses” which had no chimneys or large windows and were built without mortar but rather in a cottar’s whitehouse with thatched roof.
