BEST VIEWED LARGER The doors of the St Michael the Archangel Chapel (commenced in 1886) . Rookwood Necropolis, at 283 hectares (700 acres), is one of the largest burial grounds in the world and one of Australia’s oldest cemeteries. It has been in continual use since it was established in 1868 and over 800,000 people have been interred within the grounds. The headstones and monuments reflect the history of the colony Of New South Wales and the development of the city of Sydney. The heritage values of the cemetery are protected by an act of Parliament. / / The original 81 hectare (200 acre) heritage area, located in the north western corner of the Necropolis, is subject to a Permanent Conservation Order and represents the largest and one of the finest surviving examples of a Victorian public cemetery anywhere in the world. Rookwood was originally designed in the grand gardenesque style, fashionable in the mid to late 19th Century. The brick gutters which defined the ornate landscaping can still be seen, together with the highly decorative monuments and other features including the chapel of St Michael the Archangel and the Serpentine Canal with its elegant ponds, bridges and urns. These were set in formal gardens with rest houses to cater for mourners and visitors This shot was the result of a Sydney group meetup on Saturday 14th June, the site definitely has a feel to it. Ive never seen so many black crows . The site definitely has an atmosphere with graves dating back to the early days of the colony.. In its day there was a rail service with a special funeral train that left from a purpose built station at Sydney’s Central Railway station. This statue of St. Michael the Archangel is at the Carmelite monastery where I do weekly volunteer work. The statue is hand carved Italian marble. St. Michael is holding the Eucharistic cup and is considered the guardian of the church. After each Mass, many recite the very old prayer, “St. Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and the snares of the devil. Do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell, Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl through the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.”

The originator of the photomanipulation that spawned this particular piece was once quite an inspiration to me, so I requested to work with one of his pieces. Acrylic painting on canvass, from vision of Archangel Gabriel I had. Archangel Gabriel was my very first Archangel visitation, he came to me / in the guise of a female that is why I have painted the halo on her head / representing the Sun and the Moon both the Yin and Yang energies. / I only saw her face and her hands, as she held mine touching and grasping passionately, her gaze from her eyes was incredibly loving, unlike I had ever experienced, she lit up the entire room brighter than the Sun, I was gently rocked out of my body one night whilst I was going to sleep, my husband laying next to me, I looked at him and could not understand how he could be asleep whilst this was going on and the room was so incredibly lit up. The feathers in the paintings are a way for us to understand that she/he is an angel, is is an expression of the beautiful Spiritual Light that surrounded Gabriel. This has most certainly been the most incredible Archangel experience I / have ever had, the energy transference of love from her was truly / amazing, and how I felt her hands in mine is something I will never forget. / / Have a look at this youtube site to see the crazy movies and the music my husband and I produce together
