A row of arches overlooking the hills, Amber Fort; Jaipur, Rajasthan. This fort served as the capital for the Maharajas of this region, until Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh felt that the time was right to start a new city, which he named after himself – Jaipur. His reasoning was based on the fact that he had entered into an agreement with the fierce Mughal rulers based in nearby Agra (now in Uttar Pradesh) to marry his daughter to a prince – this lead to peace, and him being the Commander of the Mughal Army. As Mughal power waned he felt it was safe to expand his kingdom and seat of power. There are a number of forts in Jaipur including the older Jaigarh Fort, next to this one, and the newer City Palace which was established once the city was built. Part of this palace is also open to the public and the current (titleless) Maharaja resides there when he is not in the UK.
Acadia National Park has wonderful stone bridges throughout the Island. I used this one to frame this woodland view.
Stormy late afternoon along the Mornington Peninsula at one of my favorite little spots.
Pre dawn light, hence the long exposure…Big surf crashing around Arch Rock along the Great Ocean Road Coast., Victoria..Aus. / Being a bit too ambitious climbing down the soft sandstone wall to try and get the best vantage spot, somewhat away from the safety of the viewing platform..ah well, it’s just got to be done sometimes..!
I mentioned on my previous upload that I was about to work on some panographs from this spot…Taken during one of those afternoons when the light was just special. An early Summers late afternoon glow from a few days ago… / Mornington Peninsula N.P…Vic…Aus…thanks for looking and comments most welcome….cheers, Rob. / ps, A big welcome to 08…I can just feel it’s gonna be a great year photographically..!!
Canon 1Ds MKIII / 70-200mm L HDR image from 3 different exposures. Sold as Matted Print to an unknown RB buyer, thank you!
Spires in Arches National Park – Utah USA tour 2008 Please view large This area preserves over 2,000 natural sandstone arches as well as many other unusual rock formations. In some areas, the forces of nature have exposed millions of years of geologic history. The extraordinary features of the park create a landscape of contrasting colors, landforms and textures that is unlike any other in the world. / I took this shot after a fall down a hill, my wide angle lens took the brunt but survived thankfully although the polarizer was a little worse for wear. Limping, bleeding and rather scarred I throughly enjoyed my hike around this area. Moral of the story look before you shoot !!! BEST VIEWED LARGER This shot was taken on Friday 7th August in the late afternoon, weather predictions had been for a change to hit the city. This is the result, sunset light mixing with the eerie light of the appraoching storm. The biggest challenge was holding the camera still in the 30-40 knott winds. The vantage point was from the tenth floor of a building and the light was MAGIC ! And yes twin rainbows Equipment : Nikon D300, Handheld, Nikon 18-200mm lens / Technique: 5 bracketted images processed in Photomatix with a slight tidy in Capture NX !http://images-3.redbubble.net/img/art/framecolor:black/framestyle:flat30/mattecolor:off%20white/product:framed-print/size:large/view:preview/3197763-2-untitled.jpg
