  • Southern coast of Hawaii, a hurricane is in the distance and creating tremendous waves. One crashes into the coast just beyond this lava arch.

  • The Arch, Twelve Apostles, Twelve Apostles and London Bridge. Port Campbell National Park, Victoria, Australia.

  • Archway Ruin at a church in Crete… I walked in knowing I wanted to capture the pattern of the arches…. I hope I achieved that! Copyright 2008 Emele – Emily Goodwin. All Rights Reserved. • Death Valley National Park – Natural Bridge. / Because you can’t have enough natural bridges, I blended two photos together in Photoshop (there is just one bridge in real life).

  • In the old Greek Quarter of Bergama, Turkey

  • Stoke Bruene Northants

  • Stumbled upon this view while driving in the Lake District, Cumbria, UK. It was a typical grey clouds and drizzle, autumnal day. Waited 20 mins for a glimpse of the sun to added some sparkle. Then shot 3 bracketed +- 2EV exposures in RAW inorder to process a HDR image to match the view.

  • Construction began on January 3, 1870. The Brooklyn Bridge was completed thirteen years later and was opened for use on May 24, 1883. On that first day, a total of 1,800 vehicles and 150,300 people crossed what was then the only land passage between Manhattan and Long Island. The bridge’s main span over the East River is 1,595 feet 6 inches (486.3 m). The bridge cost $15.5 million to build and approximately 27 people died during its construction. We loved the early morning walk across from Brooklyn to Manhattan as the sun was shining on a gorgeous December Morning. The inspirational stories of human endeavor and loss of life in building this magnificent structure are something else. As you walk across, to your left the Statue of Liberty, the gateway to America, to your right, The Empire State Building, a 1930s construction that is now the tallest building in New York. Also to the right the Chrysler Building, same period as the Empire State and probably the most ornate skyscrapper in the city. As you near Manahattan the financial district looms up on the left bank and memories of the Twin Towers halt you in your tracks as you gaze in wonder at the space they have left.

  • This was made from 3 photos, two horizontal and one vertical to the right. You would think I would have just used my super wide but it throws the mountain too far away…

  • Kirkham Medieval Bridge overlooking the Priory of kirkham, Yorkshire. / The track that leads down to the priory passes through a dense wood, twisting and winding its way down a steep hill. Glimspes of the priory came through the trees but you dare not take you eyes off the road. Finally you break out, over a level crossing and onto the narrow medieval bridge. You want to stop there to take in the view of the priory ruins nestled by the broad river. The rumble of the weir follows you around the ruins as you walk back in time. / All bridges literally connect us with something, be it a Town, a City or a Country. / A medieval bridge however connects us with time, a sense of history, the basic need to explore and reach out. / Our legacy and responsibility is to enjoy and be inspired by the medieval mason’s who created such structures of beauty and functionality that have also passed the test of time. / Kirkham Bridge, built during the pinnacle of medieval endeavour in Britain is a perfect example of the mason’s artistry set in a wonderful green Yorshire valley.

  • The Island Archway, another natural formation caused from rough seas, and high winds. It sits in Loch Ard Gorge. *NOTE – This formation is no longer an Arch, on June 11 2009, the arch fell into the sea. Here is a link to the news.. This natural wonder if found on the Great Ocean Road, Port Campbell National Park, Victoria, Australia. If you havn’t been on the Great Ocean Road, I highly recommend it as one of the most beautiful coast lines, possibly in the world! Shot taken at 8:30am. Canon 50D, 10mm, 16:9 crop. Available Large, and definately best viewed LARGE.

  • I really enjoyed the arches well lit on this bridge and then to have the Frederick Douglas-Susan B Anthony Memorial Bridge adding asome light in the background just made this for me! Nikon D90 August 2009 / /

  • Mesa Arch, Canyonlands NP, Utah, USA. Utah has an amazing landscape, there is so much to see, very photogenic with all that red rock, especially viewed against a very blue sky ! (I like it best when there are a few clouds as well though !) This Arch is reached along a rocky trail, and is very impressive, as it perfectly frames the view beyond. / We did quite a few of the trails in Canyonlands and Arches, and found the very dry going underfoot an absolute dream, since we are more used to having to play ‘dodge the bog’ here in super-wet Scotland ! Shot on Fuji Velvia, around seven years ago. I scanned it on to my PC with my Nikon Coolscan VED, and tidied up a bit of ‘dust’ in Photoshop. I also beefed up the red colour for more impact. • Taken at Springbrook National Park at The Natural Bridge on the 5th of October, 2009. The following evening we came back to view the glow worms on the cave walls, it was definitely an amazing experience (minus the stupid people shining their torches straight onto the glow worms, smoking near them and using camera flash!).
