Had a fantastic time at the abandoned Aradale Asylum, I think I’m cured, lol. Loads of thanks to everyone who was there for making it an incredibly great experience. Big thanks to Melissa Kirkham for organising this opportunity for us! Here’s a little experimenting I did with timelapse and long exposure in one of the hundreds of rooms there.
/ / / Reload of an older image… / / Model: Loki / Concept: Loki / Location: The old Aradale Asylum – Ararat, Victoria / This is an a fun shot that was taken at a weekend in Aradale’s old mental asylum, which has been closed down for about 20 years now. Loki was made up for a shoot that I took part in about a cow’s revenge on a butcher (I was the cow!). Neither had anything to do with mental illness or the Asylum’s history. Those themes were covered with different shots and write ups. Not all of the photographs were to do with Aradale’s history – a history which all of us appreciated and connected with whilst there. The blood was a home made recipe made up by the talented and passionate Jo O’Brien, it was very much non toxic and edible! / / / /
I’m haunting the hallways now.
Part 1 of the “Herbivores Revenge” series. Concept I planned ages ago but had a little trouble getting Daisy her mask – eventually sourcing in Sydney. Special thanks also to the Butchered Butcher and OzUnderground for the makeup work.
Aradale Asylum recent weekend passed. Yellow door, lit by lights for Reg’s body bag shoot. Taken with the holga
Another Holga Double exposure. A window at Aradale Asylum with my beanie’d head in the way, plus part of another image from the film scan. I liked the composition so I left it in there

Gordon Stones at his father’s unmarked grave at the Ararat cemetery on 11-11-2008. Gordon is in the process of having a headstone made in memory of his father Alfred James Stones who passed away in 1987 at Ararat, Victoria, Australia. Gordon is one of six children and is my father.

Model – Esther This was taken during the Aradale Field Trip in 2008. This is an updated version of an image I’d previously loaded to my portfolio… the older version has now been removed.
Ararat (Victoria) has some splendid views from it’s lookout and I might post some. However, this infrared view of one of the tracks, as-is straight out of the camera – appealed so much to me that I felt I just had to post it.
