Part of a series on Chapel Street Personalities and friends. Down the Windsor end of Chapel. I wanted them to be themselves, so i could hopefully see some of ‘them’ as i knew them, in the images. / They work for me, as i do see them in the images.

This is a male purple martin, largest of the swallow family of birds in North America. This picture was taken at the Oyster Bay mud flats where families of purple martins are nesting. I captured this image with Nikon D300, 200-400 f/4 lens, at f8, 1/1250 sec. ISO 800. The image was cropped in Photoshop CS3 with a few other enhancements.

I took this today (1/18/09) while my husband was driving. It’s a high rise apartment building in downtown Nashville. I liked the angle from shooting out the window!

While travelling through the Altiplana of Peru I stopped at a market to buy some fruit and stretch the legs. I grabbed the camera as always. I shot about three people along the way. All I gave some banana’s beforeany calls for un solo un solo – which may not have come, but anyway. Then, and cliched as it sounds, i was stopped by these eyes. She was sat with her Grandma selling vegetables. In my disjointed Spanish/sign language – Grandma spoke little Spanish also and my Quechuan is and was next to zero – i asked to take a photo. No exchange of gifts, i offered, they didn’t want anything. A simple gentle hug and i was on my way.
