For April.
3 minute study . charcoal on newsprint / 18”x24” .
The night spring arrived.
I love April, everything is so fresh and new. This painting was inspired by a morning walk in Kent.
This piece represents a place close by my home with great waves & is situated in a protected area away from development. It holds great importance in my life as it is where we scattered my fathers ashes

Taken at Rhyll early in the morning when the tide was way out. On the way back from Cowes to Woolamai I thought I might stop by Rhyll as I had never been there before even after all the years we had a house there. I spotted this boat tied up in the mud and couldn’t resist a shot. My shoes sank into the mud real deep and had to give the tripod a good clean. Taken with my Canon 40D with polarising and graduated filters. Under the pier at Cowes, Phillip Island, Victoria, Australia at Dawn. Taken at the same time as Beginning of a new day for something a little bit different. It was pretty chilly, windy and way too early in the morning for me, it’s amazing how much lens distortion you get with a wide angle lens! / Settings Canon 40D, 10-22mm EF-S. Taken after a heavy rain shower this morning Ricoh GX-100 APRIL SHOWERS MUSIC LINK The daisy features in a light-hearted love divination, the petals being plucked off singly with the words ‘He loves me, he loves me not’ till all are gone, the last one deciding the issue. Daisy-chains are made by slitting the stem with a thumb-nail, threading another through it, and repeating the process; since modern lawns have few weeds, the game is getting rarer. It was said that spring had truly arrived if one could set one’s foot on seven (or nine, or twelve) daisies at once.

Another shot from last week´s morning tour to the grounds of the country-house Groeneveld near Baarn/The Netherlands. On this wonderful misty morning in mid-April the sun was late in sucking up the mist, and so the well-known lane shortly after sunrise came over like the entrance to some mysterious adventure.
