Acrylics (miniature 4”x4”) – Painted Ponies series / 20/11/08 Last Thursday I was working on an oil painting commission / in the morning & decided to paint a couple of small acrylics / in the afternoon (as I needed some new work to take to the / gallery by Saturday.) For some reason I was thinking of Skyhorse’s beautiful / Appaloosas & this little painting was one of the results. / There is a characteristic love heart on the pony somewhere. this atmosphere developed around this men. i felt it and there were inklings in the photo. i pushed for my usual blackness and there they were in the image just as they had suddenly appeared before the camera’s eye. from somewhere else, forces, seemingly benign, friendly. i don’t know them, but in this moment we connected, just a split moment between worlds as if they were the ‘invisibles’ suddenly appearing to say, ‘we like you! hello! we’re here!’ it is a reminder to me that all around me the ‘invisibles’ are living, some aware of me and i am too occupied elsewhere to notice. what if my frame of reference could open? what if i didn’t need the frame of this camera-machine to see them?
