I was at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC and I loved the sight of this one. I did a bit of solarizing to accent the colors to where I liked them…the original photo doesn’t have this color. I thought it caught the eye better this way. :)

2.14pm – Wednesday afternoon The keys on this plastic alphabet are sticky. The seat has no back and the minutes are expensive. The sub audible hum of ten thousand anxious people reverberate through the terminal floor. The timeless neon glow of Gates 31-40, Baggage Claim, Toilets and a Foodcourt burn into my pores. A voice informs me that Mr Nigel Sankey should really hurry along to Gate 36, because all the people already wedged onto the plane are getting seriously annoyed. In another life our original flight had not suffered the generic ‘engineering difficulties’ and we were already home, but in this life we were destined to spend half a day in Sydney airport at an internet cafe, so still in this life I wrench the keyboard from a neighbouring computer and walk resolutely towards the mannequins at the Virgin Service Desk, a blank look in my eye. / How did it come to this? 7.55am – Earlier that same day El Presidente and I burst into the breakfast room of the Shangri La hotel in Sydney, where NetGuide are holding the ceremony of their yearly internet awards. The room goes slightly quiet, the dog in the corner ceases playing the piano, and the 100% suited and booted occupants turn to look at these last minute arrivals, one in a vibrant red limited edition RedBubble tee, the other in a faux-Napoleonic military jacket. I wave my cane in the direction of some empty seats and we take our place between the MD of eBay and a man from the Bureau of Meteorology. A general air that we may be ‘chancers’ prevails. The ceremony begins, and decorum is held in fine corporate silence, broken by an intermittent golf clap as another nervous individual waddles up to claim their glass shard. The 14th prize is for Best New Site, and it is won by a company called Web Menu, but also has a Highly Commended Category, which RedBubble wins. None of the other categories really have second place awards, and so we still appear like we are here for the free breakfast. The final two awards, however, are a little more prestigious, and they begin with the ‘People’s Choice’ which NetGuide are very proud of, and after building it up to unprecendented heights they announce that RedBubble has conquered it without question. You can hear the room inhale in unison, then vigourously clap. Afterwards everyone was very friendly, coming over to congratulate and talk details, I was even accosted by one man in the gents but I requested he wait until I finish, I think he had something to do with the ceremony. We hand out some t-shirts and greetings cards and even some bubbles, which could be seen floating around the room towards the end of the event. 9.45am After a suitably cheesy photoshoot, we jump into a taxi and head for the airport and hopefully, a quick flight home. —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— I’d just like to take this opportunity, on behalf of the whole team, to thank all of you, and not just all of you who managed to read this whole post, or even all of you who voted for us, but ALL of you. This is a photograph taken at the Mirage, in Las Vegas – I played with it in Photoshop with a new birthday gift, Redfield Fractilius Plug-in and voila… Dolphins are very powerful and magical creatures to most all cultures, but thought by coastal Native Americans as such because they breathe air, but live in the water and considered to being the keepers of the sacred breath of life or manna. Arrows leaping and flashing through the water so blue / to release debilitating emotions with breath, its true; Free as the wind upon the sea of discovery to play / communicating clicks of trust – what do you say? This painting with My Spirit Guides wishes to convey understanding. There are many aspects of your life that you have not acknowledged, especially the past. There may be feelings, memories that seem to come into your mind and you do not understand the message. Spirit is all around you, waiting, asking to communicate with you, I confirm this to you. There are so many Spirits within this painting. I know however that they will reveal themselves more clearly in time. You must be patient and work towards a better understanding of yourself. There is something you have not acknowledged, due to guilt, worry or apprehension. Your sense of privacy keeps you from making contact with certain people. This is a time to surround yourself with like minded people so you can feel more relaxed and anxious free. You must now cut the bond that binds you and experience the release that you have longed for. It will free up your mind and your creativity. The past is over and there is nothing you can do to change it. The present is what you should focus on. Make time for yourself and adopt a more philosophical and spiritual approach. Your Spirit Guides wish to reveal themselves to you and send you great love and encouragement. A good exercise to do is to write everything on a piece of paper, allowing yourself to write everything that may be playing on your mind. Do not read anything as you write. When finished burn the paper and let it all go. This will lighten your burden and simplify your life. Allowing yourself to have some fun and enjoy each moment as a new inspiring experience. Just wanted to share some appreciation and reflect upon the energies, love and support that we all share here…We are the ones we’ve been waiting for sisters… Sisters are doin’ it for themselves

As I look upon every experience that I’ve ever had, and everyone who has ever played any role in my life, as having been sent to me for my benefit…I am truly grateful that in this Universe, which was created by a divine, organizing intelligence, there are simply no accidents, while I learn to appreciate everything and everyone…like you ;) Appreciate I appreciate all here on RB that make each day special and worth being alive for – I love you!!!

San Francisco January 20th 2009.. Civic Center.. Outside Big Screens.. / Political Officials and Each Other! I thought this man was beautiful.. alone and full of stoic silence.. he exuded a sense of peace somehow for me.. I was squashed in a corner but squashed in Love and friendship.. I could not move too far to get too many shots while he was sworn in.. I should have bought a box to stand on and I am 5’9!! But I got a few good shots and was with fellow Americans who cheered and booed.. (when guess whos appreared.. B and C !!) and was full of the Spirit of our country … The United States of America with emphasis on the United part!! Enjoy friends…. and you were all with me.. I saw everyone’s comments on my Iphone!!! / You sure are a wonderful family!

This standing being once rooted deep in the Earth / the rivers’ waters ran high, uprooted her for rebirth A magical aura surrounds her form, in remains / as she respectfully identifies our humble domain At her base sits the medicine and strength of the Bear / whose introspective instinct fares none to compare Great Horned Owl, the largest of all night birds / guarding with discernment and outsmarting the absurd Enduring Elk supports our stamina and health / reminding us our persistence and hope brings wealth Our four-legged teachers, like the wise old wolf / taught us new paths and options, as the old were engulfed Secretive Bobcat, in her stillness, does silently watch / honoring mindfulness, with no dogma to debauch The great Buffalo reminds us scarcity is based upon fear / to be released and make way for abundance is made quite clear Atop the embodiment of Spirit, as the Eagle does soar / the freedom of oneness and connecting without keeping score Owl in the Moon oversees winds of ever-present change / whilst the realm of our ancestors broaden their range Clawed, winged, finned and even those who crawl / are akin upon Earth, as I avow never to intentionally maul As one score has passed, opening this brethrens’ door / to these medicine creatures, I gratefully accept much more than folklore. Red Bubble Love

Dear Red Bubbly people…. We were asked by Community to write a journal on how Red Bubble has changed our lives.. I had already done this, but it was a written work, so I’ve adjusted it slightly and uploaded this as a journal… you can do this too and you just have to tag your journal with redbubblelove, as we would love to hear from everyone! Here we go….. Red Bubble has changed my life... I thought you should know…. I am a different person now….. people recognize me in the street….. people have respect for me as an artist now…. I have respect for myself… I found my way…. I was lost and when i reached Red Bubble, it felt like I was found… I have for a long time (well all of my life) been looking for friends, for people that were like me…. there was no-one, absolutely no-one… until I met one artist friend who lived next door for a while, then unfortunately moved away, back to England, we got on like a house on fire… that got me thinking that artists were like me… if only i could find more artists, i thought… I could have more friends that think similarly, that understand what it’s like to be an artist, to live this lifestyle…. but my biggest question was, where would i find them… hmm … this continually confounded me. One day, I came across Red Bubble, because my heart was wide open, and I knew I’d found something special… something i’d been looking for my whole life long….... friends, companionship, and people who think like i think…. it is more than just a little thing… it is a huge change for me… i feel at home at Red Bubble… like my favourite lounge chair… like sipping my favourite drink, or eating my favourite meal, or going out to my favourite restaurant… I found where i belong… Red Bubble is my watering hole, the place i go to renew my soul. It is also the place where I get to share my heart and soul with others, it’s in me to love and encourage others, there’s not enough of it around, so I pour it out lavishly on whoever will receive it… and in return they lavish love on me. There have been some hairy moments… I’ll admit that. But that’s life isn’t it… and I’m learning as I go… we all are… I am so moved and touched by the philosophy of Red Bubble, and how you accept everyone, it ties in well with my own philosophy of acceptance and encouragement. Not everyone feels the same way, but that’s okay, different strokes for different folks and all that. I don’t know where I’d be today without Red Bubble, it was there for me at a very difficult time in my artistic and my personal life, where i felt all other doors had closed to me….. It seemed to me then that all other avenues to expressing my art in the community seemed to have dried up and I was at a loss as to what to do, I almost gave up. It’s extremely important for me to me to see my art go full circle… I like to see my art sell, to create is not enough for me, it must not only be expressed, but shared and loved enough to be received into someone’s heart and home. Red Bubble gives me this opportunity each and every minute of every day…this is what i appreciate. I would just like to say all this to you now… as it seems rather apt and timely to do so… you have embraced me, my art, who i am… I cannot thank you all enough… also for your understanding my wobblier moments… you dealt with things perfectly. I also would like to mention that because of Red Bubble, the following wonderful things have happened to me in the last year and a half since I became a member, and all of them happened because i was ‘seen’ by others on Red Bubble, who since contacted me and contracted me… I realise that I forgot to mention previously, in my letter of thanks, that I have been afforded a number of opportunities because of my presence on Red Bubble.. 1. An art licensing agent in the USA discovered me and signed me up for a 2 year contract 2. A lingerie company in the UK asked me to design art for their start up 3. A company in the USA contracted me to create 5 designs for a children’s entertainment business that might go global 4. Through the art licensing agent I was contracted for 2 years by one of the largest mobile phone companies in the USA FunMobility to have 8 of my designs resold as wallpapers 5. I was made aware of a competition conducted through Creative Mums online website and my entry Madonna and Child was one of the chosen entries, in under 4 months, this artwork received almost 6,000 views 6. I have sold many of my works and received respect in my community 7. I have a contract with a company in China who are manufacturing prints for retail outlets using one of my designs 8. My work is appearing on thousands of reggae party posters and brochures coming up in September, October, November in Denmark through a deal with someone I met through Red Bubble (not a member) 8. I have met many new friends and contacts, including Frozenfa who is a member here at Red Bubble, without her support I doubt I would still be a member as she bouyed me when I was down, encouraged me to hang in there when times were low and sales were less than abundant, Fa now sells her work and my work together at markets in Singapore, such a friend and support she has been, that words seem inadequate… My huge thanks will always go out to muscularteeth who I adopted as a brother, and what a dear friend he turned out to be… I would not have continued on RB without the support of people like him and Fa… even tho RB is a wonderful place to be, it’s the special people, the characters I identify with here, are what makes this place…. the staff, the admin….not just this thing called RB… for without the love, it would be nothing. 9. Griffith University used one of my paintings Baby Bull Production in their periodical, they found my work on Red Bubble and emailed me, we talked on the phone, and it was another great opportunity for me, for which I’m very grateful 10. I’ve met the likes of iAN Derrick, Matt Mawson and his lovely sister, ginnymac, my dear friend natsky, Vicki Ferrrari, drec, etc in person and I learned that the members of red bubble are living, breathing, real people and it’s wonderful to know them and feel encouraged by them (forgive me if we’ve met and i haven’t mentioned you, but I feel like I’ve met you all in a funny way :) 11. 2008 my CHUNKIES were featured online at Thunderchunky 12. I’ve learned to understand that there are many different ways to look at things, many different talented people under the sun, and i am content and happy to be just one of them, that goes to making this whole creative world spin ‘round. There have been so many of you that have helped me, that have loved me through thick and thin…and believe me, i am very thick at times … what can I say to you all…each and every single one of you knows that special contact we have had…those special words of encouragement like blessings that we have spoken over one another, those difficult times we have shared….. and there are too many of you to mention here, my soul feels full of goodwill toward you all and I cannot thank you enough for showing me that there is kindness, love, thoughtfulness, unselfishness here, as far as the eye can see, as strong as the heart can beat, and that you all went far beyond my expectations. I love you all… Fascinating and brilliant, a whole new life…thank you Red Bubble Thank you everyone…. Big love / from Karin
