AH! I almost forgot that I was gonna put this one up now that I’m happy with it! / Aim- To construct a suite of similarly sized panels upon which a range of materials and approaches will be engaged to realize a set of predetermined results. / Process- Prepare a set of 9 panels sized approx. A4. Select a common colour that will be used as a basis of experimental surfaces on the panels. Each of the 9 panels should be approached with a different one of the following set of enteritises: / (reading the panels like a book, left to right, top to bottom) / 1.Essentially disrupted- Here, the term ‘essential’ refers to the connection between substance and effect. e.g. the word ‘Burnt’ burnt into the panel. / 2. Lyrical disruption- Using a series of organic or curvilinear marks and/or compositional elements, imply an irregular or unstable surface without the use of straight lines. / 3. Glazed surface- prepare a translucent varnish to change the nature of the surface. This may be to make the surface matted, glossy, streaked, aged, etc. / 4. Convoluted surface- Using only lighter, darker/tonally different colours rather than adding wight or black to imply a distorted or warped surface. / 5. Implied texture- to manipulate the paint on the surface to allude to a significant disruption of the surface which is totally fictional. / 6. Actual Texture- To use additives to develop a surface which has some form of significant disruption of the surface. / 7.Tonally convoluted surface- Using only the single colour, imply a distorted or warped surface. / 8. Geometric Disruption- by the use of tessellation or ordered hard edge division imply an irregular or unstable surface. / 9.Slick finnish- To achieve a surface that is flat, featureless and devoid of tonal variation as is possible to achieve. Got it in the post this afternoon… I thought it would be a great way of getting exposure for important causes and the artists that make the messages of conscience in visual arts. I have seen members of the redbubble community go above and beyond for raising their voice when they felt strongly about something, it’s one of the affirming things about humanity for me. So… With the Art: Action Without Violence Group in mind I decided to apply for a rather hefty grant through the *JB Seed Grant Fund... if the application is successful (fingers crossed) we can print 10,000 post cards distributed in 125 venues promoting 4 ethical and important organisations, 4 pieces of work and 4 Redbubble artists… I thought, seeing as it drove me a little crazy this week, that I would put up the artist profile part of the submission to say thanks to the other participants for their involvement. Thank you!!!

Went through about 50 pgs of new works on Redbubble this weekend. I don’t always go back to work I missed but the past two weeks have been a bit crazy, hence I did not comment as much, and that is a long time. I could have carried on to my next piece, but then I started thinking that if I was making something which a busy watcher of mine would have really liked, it would be a pity if they decided to carry on and not look at it. So this time I decided to look through EVERYTHING, and I can say I’m happy I did so because there was a lot of fantastic work that came in, including some new works from the usually more silent ones (at the same time I regretted some of the stuff I missed! Happy super belated B-day Hilary… so sorry I missed it ;_;) I didn’t comment on everything, BUT it does not mean I didn’t like it if I didn’t comment on it – in some cases it may be that I was so moved I was lost for words. Can’t expect this from me everytime; once school begins I know for sure I won’t be able to catch up to everything. So what was the chaos about? Well, it all began with the Rome visa panic. As some may recall, I’m supposed to go on an exchange in September and had to get documents ready for my visa. As the application deadline was approaching I didn’t get all the documents I needed as I was promised and there was a real panic, but I managed getting everything on time. The following Saturday was Drawing Day so that entire day was dedicated to drawing, hence once again, I was missing out on the new works. I mentioned earlier that I was going to break my long silence and catch up on the new work; but then I had a new project deadline at work and had to do some overtime, and I would often be too tired after coming home, hence the longer delay – sorry guys~ But this weekend I have caught up! And another piece of good news; my visa arrived last Thursday! Rome here I come! The visa has some lines running across it, like what you see in paper money, and a translucent photo of myself is printed over that, so I look like I have lines running across my face :P. But this is still a hell lot better than my driver’s license photo! The ministry of transportation always makes me look like crap…

Hello to you all this lovely fine day… Last Friday I unleashed a little Facebook Gift Application on an unsuspecting group… This Application is to spread awareness about social and environmental issues as per the dedication of the Art Action Union – Creative Activism Group. It is moving very steadily and I am soooo happy with the reach after 3 days… Thanks to everyone for installing it and spreading the word and the work, it is now also listed in the Application Directory after getting a lovely approved stamp… I would love it if you could take a little time to review (you just need to add a comment below the list of users on this page) it as well as it all helps get more popularity and therefore more awareness… BUT… I NEED MORE ART WITH A MESSAGE TO ADD TO THE GIFT REGISTRY... I COULD MAKE MORE BUT HOW BORING WOULD THAT BE… For those not on Facebook… here are some slides of how it all looks… This is what the gift registry looks like at the moment when all the gifts have been unlocked… This is the zoom view, artist is credited and their redbubble address is listed next to the title. This is how many people have installed the application… I might mention only 1/3 of this number are on my personal friends list… pretty snazzy hey? Hey everyone!! just wanna write a quick sorry notice!! i’ve been very inactive on RB for awhile eh? been inactive on Zazzle too.. eheh.. Sorry sorry.. n_n” am actually currently busy with my website, as you might have seen here ... It’s actually, sorta almost done.. just left a write up on Tim, since i do see a few people asking who’s Tim. hehe.. am also supposed to touch up the programming for the enquiry page.. and do 3 more banners.. and all must be done before 08.08.08…. YEAP!! Will officially launch my webbie on 08.08.08!!! Bwahahahaha…. You can call me a sucker for lucky number.. i can’t help it.. This is the year of the Rat, according to the lunar calendar, and yours truly, happens to be born exactly 12yrs ago, on the year of Rat.. XD the number 8 (ba) is known by the chinese as a lucky number as its pronunciation is similar to the word Fortune. fa in mandarin can mean richness.. AND guess what?! all my relatives and family calls me papa.. ehehe.. weird eh? my pet name was supposed to be fafa, but it somehow turns into papa.. so yea! i get uncles and grandaunties calling me papa… OO” papa… baba… fafa… O_o” And so i really hope to officially launch my webbie on the 8th Aug!! XD / oh shoot, that’s this friday… ARGH!!!! and can’t wait to finish my current project.. i just took up a short-deadline freelance proj, to create an interactive platform for a kiosk featuring Disney’s Wall.E!! i don’t know whether to smile or frown… i love being able to watch all the high res trailers and playing the games, but i hate actionscripting!!! OO” the project is due tomorrow, sorta.. i guess i’ll still be able to finish my webbie on time.. Oh, will take a videoclip of the platform later if possible and share with you guys!! =D Last and most importantly, so so sorry to everyone whose work i haven’t view or comment or fav!!! so so sorry.. i haven’t been able to come over to RB easily these days with this proj.. BUT!!! but but but… despite this horrible headache.. i came home today receiving 2 lovely lovely news!!! =D Good news No. 1 / i made my very first sale ever as SilentCries!! A beautiful shot of an old storefront on Broad Street in Richmond, Virginia. It has one of the coolest vintage neon signs also – it is one of my favorite buildings. This photos brings you back to an earlier time in the city. The colors are gorgeous and this looks great framed.

This logo and associated materials were created for the up coming games in Adelaide South Australia. The logo represents the hands of two athletes, one assisting the other to achieve their goal represented by both reaching for the sun. This relates to the games team spirit and the goal of reaching your best, and together anything is possible. The points around the sun represent the states and territory’s of Australia, while the colours are those associated with South Australia.

It’s perhaps the best and most featured of the free image editors available, and as such will enable many artists on a budget to reach their potential. It’s FREE, people! / .. / Paint.NET A good basic image editor. Stable (at least on my systems). REQUIRES .NET Framework. (read the requirements) / .. / RealWorld Paint.COM A very basic,but competent editor. They have paid apps too. / .. / IrfanView “IrfanView is a very fast, small, compact and innovative FREEWARE (for non-commercial use) graphic viewer for Windows 9x, ME, NT, 2000, XP, 2003 , 2008, Vista, Windows 7.” As recommended by RB’er Frisson . Thank you. / .. / Blender Blender is the free open source 3D content creation suite, available for all major operating systems under the GNU General Public License. Topaz Simplify is a Photoshop plugin. Topaz sort of fills the gap left by the demise of BuzzSimplifier (see below). / .. / NeatImage Noise filtration software available as photoshop plugins or a standalone application. I have the pro version of the standalone application which, when I bought it several years ago was around $89. It is perhaps the state of the art noise reduction software available. They did have a fully functional free version of the standalone which was prohibited by licensing requirements from being used for any commercial uses (read for sale images). It was fully functional. If you sell your work, you must pay and register. / .. / Terragen Terragen is a 3d landscape generator capable of stunningly beautiful output. Like most 3d apps, it has a learning curve. From the website: “You are required to register your copy of Terragen if it is for commercial use, as specified in the License Agreement presented to you when you install or first use Terragen. If you only intend to use Terragen personally, on a non-profit basis, registration is optional and you may continue to use the unregistered version of Terragen free of charge.” Registration for Terragen Classic is $100. Still a lot less than Bryce, Hexagon, etc., which are high-end commercial apps. / .. / Other informational or service related sites: / .. / PlugsNPixels “where you can get one-stop, organized information about creativity and productivity software and related educational materials more quickly and easily than from any other source.” -quote from the site. / .. / MyFreeCopyright A copyright registration site that gives you a digital fingerprint of your work so you can prove infringement if it occurs. I don’t use this service, but I see it being used by others here on RB and elsewhere.
