  • About an hour before sunrise on a winter trip down the Great Ocean road. The pre-dawn glow and moonlight illuminates a now some what more crumbled Victorian icon.

  • The Twelve Apostles in the Port Campbell National Park, Victoria, Australia.

  • Taken on the spectacular Victorian west coast – a place that I never tire of frequenting… Each visit evokes new and old excitement and humbles me into the awe of nature. / / / / Canon EOS A2, Velvia 50. / ©T.Middleton2008 / / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— /

  • ‘The Twelve Apostles’ coastline of Port Campbell National Park, Victoria, Australia. Photographed by time exposure (for 3hrs) at night by full moon light. / It’s typically very windy along this coastline and I found that a salt covered camera and lens plus slight movement from buffeting winds makes for poor quality and blurred results. So, right weather (pretty rare), full moon, lots of time, sand bags, beanie, and ample coffee were essential. Salt spray build up on the lens and camera wobble over hours ruined earlier attempts at this. / Tomiyama Art Panorama 6×17 cropped, Fuji Velvia film. / © Ern Mainka

  • A section of the coastline at ‘The Twelve Apostles’, Port Campbell National Park, Victoria, Australia. Taken before the collapse in 2005 of the stack in the forground. Photographed at night by time exposure (approx 1 1/2 hrs). / Note: This image is rather soft in focus due to gusty gale force winds and slight camera movement during the exposure even with the tripod anchored down. / Nikon F3, Fuji RDP film. / © Ern Mainka

  • Looking out from a cave on an eroding peninsular which will eventually become another free standing stack (or apostle). One step further back and it’s a very high plunge into the ocean. This section is now closed to the public due to erosion and obvious safety reasons. Taken c 1980. ‘The Twelve Apostles’, Great Ocean Road coastline, Port Campbell National Park, Victoria, Australia. • Taken in the afternoon haze as clouds roll over the mainland from the Southern Ocean, looking toward the Eastern members of the twelve apostles.

  • I know they have been photographed a million times, but I just had too! / Unique to Victoria, thousands of people come to see these amazing limestone towers every year.

  • The Twelve Apostles, Port Campbell National Park, Victoria, Australia.

  • The defiant Apostles standing strong against the relentless Bass Strait weather. / Victorian Coast ~ Land of Aus.

  • Got up for dawn at Port Campbell only for it to be drizzly and overcast, but by the time I got down to the beach and the sun started to rise some awesome colour came through and it made the early start well and truly worth it! / Settings Canon 40D, 10-22mm EF-S. • This little gem can be found just around the corner from Loch Ard Gorge near Port Campbell off Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, Australia. I came here the afternoon before and there were snap happy tourists everywhere but decided to come back the next morning and there wasn’t a soul in sight, just the crashing ocean to keep me company… Unfortunately as of early June 2009 this archway has collapsed leaving two apostles next to eachother. For information read this story on the collapse / Settings Canon 40D, 10-22mm EF-S. • Trying to make the most of the bleak weather, Mother Nature poked a hole in the cloud to take a peak.. This only lasted about 1 minute, and I’m glad I captured it. If you havn’t been on the Great Ocean Road, I highly recommend it as one of the most beautiful coast lines, possibly in the world! Shot taken at 7:30am, and already the tourists were packed in the lookout area. None of which I could see were from Australia. Canon 50D, 10mm. Available Large, and definately best viewed LARGE.

  • The famous Australian Landmark, The 12 Apostles. A collection of limestone stacks, on the Great Ocean Road, Port Campbell National Park, VIC, Australia. Few have fallen down now, but the name remains the same. The name was changed in 1950 from Sow & Piglets, Muttonbird Island was the “Sow” and the little islands, or apostles now, were the “Piglets”. This shot taken 10th May 2009, these formations change constantly. Canon 50D, 40mm, 7:40am. Available Large!

  • The Apostles From Above, Great Ocean Road Victoria, Australia. One of the most scary rides I have ever had. The wind was blowing a gale and the tiny helicoptor was being tossed about like a toy. / Nikon D70 / Lens 18-70 / A F11 / S 1/320s / F/L 18mm / ISO 200

  • Time appears to momentarily stand still, but these rock stack’s timeless, defiant stand against the elements will eventually come to an end. bubblesite / photography blog / portfolio Canon EOS 5DmkII. / ©T.Middleton2009 —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-——

  • This was taken at sunset at Port Campbell of the twelve apostles on the Great Ocean Road, Victoria, Australia. I used a Canon DSLR EOS 350D camera.

  • Spent a week last summer with my family on the Great Ocean Road. Really struggled with poor light until sunset on the last day. Did you catch that sunset Dad, my daughter, Sarah asked….......Hell Yeah.
