another orange moment of early morning madness … these pictures are Ok to give you an idea of what this very strange event is like but seriously it is just so weird to be in an orange world … you had to be here … breathing it and touching it and peering through it…. orange as far as the eye can see….. / . / . /

I’ve been posting some very orange shots of the early morning light down at the beach showing the effects of the colossal dust storm which is covering most of the state and moving fast into Queensland at the moment… and now I’m going to post a couple taken around 7am ….. so the bright orange intensity of the storm has past and now there is like a total brown sludge covering the sky and yet there is the sun doing it’s damnest to breakthough the murk and shine it’s light down to us…. this is what it looked like from the ocean baths down near my way…... and if anything I think this struggling sun is more freaky and spooky than the orange shots I’ve been posting….. / . / . /

another apocalyptic sunrise from this mornings freaky orange dust storm over the eastern part of Australia… this shot was taken at around 7am and as you can see the sun is up and it really struggling to make it’s presence felt… but that is not enough to stop the swimmers venturing forth into the dusty waters….. I find these duller images even more spooky that the straight orange ones to be honest… this really looks like the last days of a dying planet….. not that that would stop the early morning swimmers…. / . / . /

this image was shot yesterday during the amazing dust storm that covered the country …. this one was shot just before 7am and already the right orange colour has faded to this dull orangebrowny shade… in another ten minutes it will be a dark beige and so on…. but the dust did more that cover the sand… it seem to resist absorbing into the water and so the ocean it’s self seem to be covered with this fine dust and the water and the sky and the sand all just seemed to blend in together as if they painted with the same brush that day….. so my local pool…..

I took this photo yesterday during the big dust storm while I was walking along the beach in the orange cloud. It didn’t fit with the other landscapes I posted but it’s still cute in a seagull sort of way….. / . / .

24” x 24” Oil on canvas. / Part of a series of ‘Eclipse Horse’ paintings that evolved from my Butterfly series. There is a recurring global warming theme with the sun being frightening and ominous as well as nurturing and illuminating. / On first looking at this painting it seems like a stylised children’s illustration, but I hope the twisted and fearful stance of the pony and the incorporation of ‘memento mori’ symbols give an undertone of unease.
