A young baboon and its mother. Taken in the Masai Mara, Kenya, this young baboon was quite shy at first. After a while he lept up on to his mothers back and rode away, gazing back at me. The light at the time was very harsh, but this treatment in photoshop seems to have given the shot more depth. I did this a couple of years ago when I was at Uni. A friend recently advised me to turn it into a print so here it is. It’s basically an illustration about a monkey that was awarded a medal and was promoted to the rank of Corporal in the South African army after the First World War, for services to it’s country. Honestly, I ain’t making this up!
I could just hear the sound of Charlie Chaplin’s soulful tune (press CTRL and click on link to enjoy music) as I watched the great apes during my trip to the Melbourne Zoo. There are another few shots of my first shooting trip to the zoo. I hope you enjoy them. Ape Series: A huge thank-you to the very warm and generous Bubblers Rosemaree and KristinaK for taking me under wing for a few hours yesterday, and teaching me more than the little I knew. . / . / . / . / . / . / . / . / . / . / . / . / . / . /
