Moose calves are born with their eyes open, if they live through their first month, it’s most likely they will survive to become an adult. Moose are herbivores and they are the largest antlered animals of all ~ with the males only growing them (rarely a female with hormone imbalances will grow them as well). The moose has no enemies except the grizzly bear and humans. / Moose medicine invites you to explore new depths of awareness and sensitivity within yourself and within your environment. Photograph taken in an undisclosed place in Alaska (as is) by my brother, who wishes to remain anonymous.

Picture of a small Fallow Deer in the sun
This gorgeous White Tail Deer is taking a chance that the only thing in my hand is a camera. Deer season opened last week and this is an easy and wanted shot for me or a hunter. It’s very rare to get this close, at this time of year, but this young buck was very curious.
These two elk were basking in the sun, waiting for me to take their picture! /
A deer with unusual antlers. This poor buck must have been grazing near a hammock and as he got closer to the hammock, something must have startled him and he brought his head up underneath the hammock and caught it in his antlers. He couldn’t dislodge it, so he took it with him and now he is wearing it as a decoration. It’s a good thing that antlers are shed or he would still be carrying it around!
The horned God is the eternal hunter, and also the animal which is hunted. He is the Beast who is sacrificed so that human life may go on , as will as the sacrificer, the one who sheds blood. He is also seen as the sun, eternally hunting the moon across the sky. the waxing and waning of the sun throughout the seasons manifest the cycle of birth and death, creation and dissolution, separation and return. I built the background in photo shop, the tornado was drawn with brushes/blended and blurred / The clouds were pieced together from photos and masked and blended/blurred / Trees were my photos/separated and moved about / Antlers were a separate photo from the head
