This is an image created to illustrate an environmental portrait of an old camera called a “speed graphic”... the whole scene is meant to tell a story of a time when this camera was in use. I hope you enjoy this marvolous piece of photographic history.

I wouldn’t like to feed the photographers for which this photo is the plain and simple truth. Another instalment in my Nostalgia series although a little different then usual in the set-up. It’s a lot simpler a composition then most of my work, but let me assure you, it was so much harder to get right! Shot with my relatively new Pentax K10D and a very old Pentax-A 1:1.7 50mm objective. You can read all about the technique used in this tutorial preview / more work / “Forgotten” was sold as a Medium mounted print to an anonymous buyer. June 26th How excited I am! Tomorrow is my birthday, and my sisters have told me that Papa will be arriving first thing, and that he has a very special treat in store for me. Naturally since learning of this, I have been at pains to discover what awaits me. Yet to my utter dismay, when I try to interrogate my sisters , they will only say that they are sworn to secrecy, then glance at one another and burst into infuriating giggles. I feel that if I am to succeed in my endeavour to extract the necessary information before morning, I must first get to each of them separately, then use all the cunning and ingenuity inherited from my beloved father. What springs immediately to mind, is to adopt the guile of one of Nature’s predators and pursue the weaker of the pack. Knowing as I do of Audrey’s great fondness for fruit bonbons, I shall arm myself with said items, and make my way to her bedchamber this very evening. Let us see how long her lips remain sealed when such delightful confection is offered in exchange for her secrets!

Best Viewed Full Size I discovered this wonderful antique bike at the Juniata Crossing Mercantile on Route 30, near Breezewood PA on May 10, 2009, and couldn’t resist the image. Used the Nikon D40x and the 18-200mm vr Nikon lens, cp filter was probably still on. Post processing included a trip to Photoshop for removal of distractions, then to Photomatix for hdr (hand held camera, single image +/-2), then back to Photoshop for a light Orton and other final tweaking.

Every now and then I like to “step outside” my boundary of usual subject matter and do something really different. This is one of those images. Captured outside the town of Central City, Colorado, I happened by this scene by luck, along with the other 2 cemeteries close by it. Long closed, these are the real deal “wild west’ cemeteries, long forgotten, long not seen. Looking like a scene out of the movie “Pale Rider”.....I had to photograph it. The ruts in the ground were still visible from where the old wagons used to carry the bodies up from the town. Echinacea purpurea (purple coneflower) with a dark twist. This was the first of my Dark Dreams flower series, most of which I have pulled from redbubble. It was also one of my first images here. Obviously it was photoshoped. I get a lot of questions about why there are scratches on it, it was to give it an old aged look. The texture would make it a great canidate for a canvas print… hint hint ;) This is the original: / I believe this is the largest image in my portfolio, and that is because it was taken with my old 35 mm SLR, then scanned in (I have a really good scanner that scans really big) If you are seeing this image in a group for the first time, that is because I just realized it wasn’t in any groups! I must have cleared it out to make room for newer stuff. This peice was my very first one chosen on the Featured Art page and was featured in Ebony and Ivory group. This is my first photomanipulation I have done in years. I figured I would go with something simple. Brushes: hair, wings, flowers, photo texture. Taken at Monsalvat in Eltham, Victoria, Australia. I couldn’t resist this approach as the old house begged for treatment and a dark and moody atmosphere. Hadn’t been here since I went there for a wedding as a young child, this approach to the image is sort of what I remember the place being like! HDR from 3 exposures in Photomatix, Adobe Lightroom conversion to Antique Light and then birds added in Adobe Photoshop CS3.
