The birds started to screech one evening. / No rhyme or reason to it. / The wind picked up, trees bending in homage. The villagers shuttered their windows and looked to their rosaries. / Fires were poked and stoked. / Candles were lit, casting flickery shadows in small spaces. She walked swiftly, wrapped up well against the cold, keeping close to the walls. It was done, and he was gone. Good riddance to him.

Echinacea purpurea (purple coneflower) with a dark twist. This was the first of my Dark Dreams flower series, most of which I have pulled from redbubble. It was also one of my first images here. Obviously it was photoshoped. I get a lot of questions about why there are scratches on it, it was to give it an old aged look. The texture would make it a great canidate for a canvas print… hint hint ;) This is the original: / I believe this is the largest image in my portfolio, and that is because it was taken with my old 35 mm SLR, then scanned in (I have a really good scanner that scans really big) If you are seeing this image in a group for the first time, that is because I just realized it wasn’t in any groups! I must have cleared it out to make room for newer stuff. This peice was my very first one chosen on the Featured Art page and was featured in Ebony and Ivory group. During my travels in six states in the past week, I finally landed in Durbin West Virginia, where I stayed with a friend of mine. This old coal steam engine depot is in her little historical town of Durbin. We finally got a chance to ride this train that soon will be reaching it’s centinial (100th) birthday in 2010. This engine is called The Durbin Rocket One of three coal steam engines actually running in the world. When we came to a short stop, I took advantage of shooting this (and yes, have quite a few shots while riding it) Something about the elderly gentleman looking at this engine remembering when he was a boy and rode trains like this enticed me to shoot it in black and white. This has not be converted, I changed settings on camera to shoot in BW, I will be adding more photos of my travels after I return from Texas this weekend. This was shot in SS priority, F-stop of 8.0, Exposure at 1/125, ISO of 400, Exposure Compensation at 0 / Best if viewed larger.

Time heals all wounds. Time flies when you’re having fun. Time stands still. Time waits for no one. If I could turn back the hands of Time. Frozen in Time. Timeless…. you get the idea. Well, I wanted to create a series that perhaps captured the essence of these things, in relation to human emotion. And so my Time series was born. I know in my heart what each of them means, but I did not name them anything specific, so that the viewer could make up their own mind as to the meaning of each piece. I think that is something unique to every individual. So…my heartfelt thanks for continuing to watch and support my artistic endeavors. It feeds the fire that burns and inspires. / Aimee

Oklahoma City has had snow now for two days. Our pasture was pristine and white and still. I went out in it to recreate a classic snow scene, as people here have endured for generations. But then, the crunchy sounds under foot, the soft snow -I could not resits a little dash through the snow! Yes – I froze – it was 18 degrees! My camera became so cold, it froze as well! BUT it was FUN! This photos is straight from the camera, as is, like all of my work.
