More elephants here / This shirt is also available as a greeting card / Elephants think about world events often. They sometimes think that people might not have everything under control. We should listen to what elephants have to say. Maybe they have some good ideas.
Some people have really big dreams. Chocolate Cream Pie is as big as it gets, honestly. What else is better?
Like my photo of the figure of a woman, this was taken in a botanical garden in Los Angeles. The form of this tree is anthropomorphic in the sense it represents the form of a woman reaching upward toward a beautiful canopy of clouds above her. The colors and textures of this photograph combine to create a luminescent effect.
={ s a mustache!

“Herbert Adams” / Appletree Hollow Series / original is sold – Print Available Featured in: / 07/09 – Imaginative Realism group / 07/09 -Oil Painting / 8/18/09 -ImageWriting / 8/20/09 -Cats&Dogs I began the fantasy series of “Appletree Hollow” paintings several years ago. Some of their personal story is based (loosely) on actual historical facts. You can read about the Discovery of Appletree Hollow in 2007 in my latest Journal entry / Diary: 1816 / After reading for hours, in the first diary of Appletree Hollow, this past weekend,I decided that before I continue on about its residents, I should reveal one who, without his dedication, the images of Appletree Hollow could not be seen today. / I am speaking about Herbert Adams, pictured above in the early winter of 1816. / Herbert immigrated from England in 1815 and became renowned for documenting Appletree Hollow for many years. He was a traveling photographer who worked on his floating studio located on the “Water Nymph” showboat that cruised the Ohio River. He photographed thousands of residents of Southern Ohio and West Virginia, documenting living conditions and family life in Appalachia. From what information I have gathered so far, is that he appeared to be a very talented but sad sort of fellow, which I must say I do find to be a bit odd, since it also said he met and photographed many melodrama and vaudeville types. I think ever since him and I met and started talking, I always thought to myself either “Dude, this guy would be an awesome dad” or “I want to be like him when I grow up.” He’s got a good heart, and the Universe often seems to just be after him… and that sucks. Tryin to keep a brotha DOWN! But yes. I’d have his back if he needed help, cause a big guy with a big heart who gets flooded with a ton of crap, needs a break every now and again with the help of his friends. More recently, he’s done something that really only further inspired me, and amplified my want to do this picture, as it felt so appropriate. Belic has amazing stregnth and determination when it comes to helping others, who’s not afraid to be himself or do what he thinks is right no matter how hard it is for him. Ya sounds a little cheesy, but ya know what? I more than respect that about him, I frickn love that about him. I look up to him in that aspect. :) I’ve had this idea stuck in my head for months, of Belic about to beat the shit out of a great white shark with dynamite and a pic axe. It’s a metaphor, to where the pic-axe represents effort, and the shark represents troubles. The dynamite doesn’t represent anything, it’s just dynamite to blow shit up. Pushed this thing out as soon as my schedule freed up, and got it done pretty quick. I experimented with a few things here, like the style for one. It’s a bit on the comic/illustrative side with some exaggerated lines. I was going for a little bit of dynamics and I tried to limit my colors, and I was also trying to work within a perfect-square composition. This entire style was inspired by an awesome artist, named Jared Moratis (Pop Monkey)... It’s very ‘skater-ish’ with the almost obnoxiously saturated colors and outlines. Love the style. Artfulreggie and IG_Kirk helped me out with this one with brainstorming. :)
Ice Cream is a pretty powerful thing. We all know that. It can turn any grim situation, into a delightful one: Bad day at work? Ice Cream will pick you up. / Relationship problems? Ice Cream will love you unconditionally. / Your mother died? Ice Cream is the best bed-time story. It just makes life better. Foxes can’t help but get chubby and frolic in a colorful world with butterflies, when he has a paw full of ice cream. This was done for a friend of mine, as a gift because I was stupid enough to lose my tablet stylus, and he was kind enough to mail me a free one. This is the least I could do. I challenged myself to limit myself to only 7 colors (not including the background shirt color). I’ve been enjoying very saturated colors as of late.
Sekhmet means “The Mighty One.” Sister Goddess to Bast, the lion-headed Sekhmet was the avenger / warrior Goddess in ancient Egypt and one of the most powerful of the Egyptian mythological gods and goddesses. She embodied the destructive force of the sun and she meted out divine punishment on behalf of the gods and the pharoahs. Conversely, she was also a goddess of healing and of surgery and medicines. She is usually depicted in red dress to denote her avenging nature and she is also known as the “Eye of Ra”. Original artwork measures 12.5×19 inches and was created with liquid copper leaf, gold paint pen, oil pastels, colored pencils, black art marker on heavy textured Strathmore paper. This artwork is a companion piece to my depiction of Sekhmet’s gentler sister Bast Bast of the Rising Sun View more of my artwork online at www.lynnetteshelley.com
