  • This shot was taken with a Canon AE1 35mm camera about 15 years ago and scanned into the computer. Then I tweaked it a little in Photoshop Elements 5 High on top of Carn Brea (700 feet above sea level) you will find Carn Brea Castle which looks out at some stunning views of the surrounding countryside of Cornwall. Redruth, Brea, Carnkie and Camborne are a few of the towns near by. The Castle itself can be traced back to 1379. It is a stone twin towered fortress, built by the Bassett family and is inside the ramparts of the Iron Age hill fort. It was probably built has a hunting lodge, or as a chapel to St Michael. It has been restored and extended over the years, and today has the look of a modern folly, rather than a medieval fort. The views from this spot are splendid, and you can see for miles on a bright evening. / All the Materials Contained May Not Be Reproduced, Copied, Edited, Published, Transmitted or Uploaded In Anyway Without My Permission. • This one is slightly different but it is very special to me. I caught this shot of my brother, Ken, who was 2 years older than I am, as the sun was going down; I think he may have been watching a Buzzard over the cliffs of Portreath in Cornwall. I don’t have many photos of him but this one, which I have made part painting which is rubbish I know, who paints a sun like that? Well I found it hard to paint with the computer mouse. I forced the grain in the shot to look a bit like a canvas painting. But anyway, this one I like as it sums him up as a person. He loved nature, bird & animal watching, painting, craft making, photography, flowers, plants, gardening, and the outdoor life. He was in his element when he managed to get a job on a huge estate in Cornwall to help look after the grounds. This is where he died 5 years ago lying on the ground in a place he loved so much with the sun on his face and the animals and birds around him. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to go on. So, this is for Ken, my dear big brother with love from me, I miss you my friend. The shot was taken on my Canon AE1 35mm camera about 20 odd years ago and scanned into the computer. • Here in the photo it is autumn the trees and shrubs shed their leaves to form a carpet of golden yellow and rusty brown and it will lead you deeper into the woods for a journey to remember. But if we stop to think for just a moment about the whole process of life we get a better picture of what’s to come. As we walk along the pathway by the side of the murky pond we see many of the trees are now naked of their protection, their leaves. In spring the leaves grow and give shade to everything underneath, some flower and the birds live on the seeds then they fly off somewhere and when their food passes through them it lands on the earth and will grow into another tree starting the process off again. The leaves give life to the tiny creatures of the forest, ants; spider’s caterpillars to name but a few and other creatures live on these. Where there is life – it gives life. When autumn calls and the bad weather comes the leaves drop to feed the ground creatures and to feed the earth so other things may grow and live. Living is a cycle, we are born, we live and we die but when we die we help others to live. Isn’t life wonderful? • I would like to dedicate this photo to ALL of you who are going through some form of trauma, hardship, pain or hurting in your lives at the moment. No matter what it is all will become good again soon. Trust in the process. This shot was taken on my Canon AE1 35mm camera about 35 years ago. I have always loved this photograph but the original shot has faded over the years so I have just scanned into the computer and then tweaked in Photoshop Elements 5. It almost has the feel of a painting to it, what do you think? And as to where it was taken, well I can’t remember, sorry, but I believe somewhere this side of London maybe in Hertfordshire? Sorry I don’t have any new photos for you yet that’s why I am going through the old shots again. Or do you prefer the painted version? • It saddens me when I come to the end of a series I have enjoyed compiling but unfortunately this is the thirteenth and the last one in my London Zoo series which I hope you have enjoyed. I wanted to end this series with my favourite shot: a full face photograph of the beautiful Asian Small Clawed Otter. They really are such beautiful creatures and I just adore them. Thank you for looking – until next time goodbye for now. • A low light shot of the boats above the harbour wall in St. Ives, Cornwall. I used a street light to my right and out of the frame as the main source of light and a little bit of flash. I hope you like it and thank you for viewing. The selective colouring was done in Photoshop Elements 6 This was the original colour shot. • I think this is the first time I was able to get as close as I was to this beautiful fellow. I was so pleased when I uploaded it onto the computer and saw the results. Believe me this has had selective colouring on the shot it is just that the owl is mainly white. The original shot was taken in The Cornish Birds of Prey Centre & Animal Park in Cornwall. I have been playing about with it again; a crop here to focus tight on his beautiful eyes and selective colouring there and this is the result which I love. I hope you like it and thank you for viewing. The selective colouring was made in Photoshop Elements 6 NIKON D60 DSLR / F-stop f/9 / Exposure time 1/500 sec / ISO speed 100 / Aperture priority / Focal length 190 mm on a 70 – 300 mm Nikon lens All the materials contained may not be reproduced, copied, edited, published, transmitted or uploaded in any way without my permission. • I have just been featured in; The Urban Wildlife Group and The Nikon DSLR Users Group I went for a walk today over to the Forty Hall Estate in Enfield for a couple of hours and this beautiful male Mandarin Duck was gliding gracefully across the lake with his female in tow. I was so happy the way this one turned out. The weather was a little overcast but that gave a fantastic balanced light making the colour of this lovely duck stand out really well. I hope you like the shot and thank you so much for viewing my work, please come again soon. NIKON D60 DSLR / F-stop f/4.8 / Exposure time 1/640 sec / ISO speed 800 / Focal length 180 mm on a 70 – 300 mm Nikon lens / Shutter Priority Maybe you like this one better? • Anthony Parker is a professional actor and champion powwow dancer; he has been dancing in the powwow circuit since he was a child. Anthony was born in Omaha but currently resides in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I took this photograph in September of 2007 on a private ranch approximately 10 miles south of Santa Fe during a workshop. Canon XTi 1/160 sec @ f/11 ISO 400. 115mm (28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Canon lens)

  • I know you have seen this beautiful Snowy Owl in my collection before as #10 but I wanted to redo it and try a tighter crop on it this time as I have done before with other shots and I think it has worked, do you agree with me? / When I said to this cheeky little fellow, say cheese he gave me a wink, LOL / I took the shot in ‘The Cornish Birds of Prey Centre & Animal Park’ The centre is near Newquay in Cornwall. I want to thank you for looking at my work I really do appreciate you dropping by and I hope you aren’t getting bored from looking at them yet? • Painting of Hannibal Lecter, as played by Anthony Hopkins. Original is acrylic on board 21.5” x 11.5” and is for sale. Prints available here at RB

  • I took this shot or the old fence in front of the Rape Seed fields while in the area of Hadley Wood. It is close to the border of Hertfordshire and is located in the London Borough of Enfield. A lot of high class properties are in this area with A list celebrities residing in them. The day was a little overcast and somewhat hazy in the distance but I love this shot for the beautiful colour of the rape seed fields and of course the main feature, the old fence in the foreground weathered with age. The B&W version is my favourite as it brings out more detail in the timber of the fence and is more dramatic. I hope you like the shot and thank you so much for viewing my work, please call back again soon. NIKON D60 DSLR / F-stop f/16 / Exposure time 1/125 sec / ISO speed 1250 / Aperture Priority / Focal length 55 mm on a 18 – 55 mm Nikon lens Or perhaps you like the B&W shot better? • I took this shot in the Stoke Poges memorial gardens which is in Buckinghamshire. The grounds are beautifully set out as a final resting place for your ashes. I love the way the single flower here looks like a guiding light or a bright beacon to attract the creatures from the pond to it and also the way the blue sky is reflecting on the surface of the water. NIKON D60 DSLR / F-stop f/5.6 / Exposure time 1/640 sec / ISO speed 100 / Exposure bias -1.3 step / Aperture Priority / Focal length 105 mm on a 70 – 300 mm Nikon lens All the materials contained may not be reproduced, copied, edited, published, transmitted or uploaded in any way without my permission. • I bet any males looking are now quite disappointed that there isn’t a babe here for them to look at? LOL This is my second shot from the British Wildlife Centre. The centre is just ten minutes away from the M25 motorway, junction 6 in Newchapel on the A22 Eastbourne Road in Surrey. This beautiful Red Fox kept looking at me then turning away then back to me again as if asking; “Have you got the shot yet? ” And when I had the one I wanted she trotted off. The Red Fox is one of my favourite animals and I know they steal from farmers and are shot if caught and were hunted by dogs and people on horseback with nothing better to do but rip the poor creature to pieces but they are just so beautiful, look at her face, how could you hurt one of God’s wonderful creatures as beautiful as she is? I hope you like the photo and thank you so much for viewing my work, please call back again soon. • I thought you might like to see the castle in B&W? My wife, Jackie and I had a great trip out to the beautiful Leeds Castle, which is in the county of Kent, on Saturday and had a wonderful time being transported back through 900 years of our history. The castle and grounds are simply stunning and well worth a visit if ever you are in that part of the world.
