This Praying Mantis appears to be injured and yet still very confident and protective of his territory (namely, My Yard). We had such fun together! I hope you enjoy this one. ____ All The Materials Contained May Not Be Reproduced, Copied, Edited, Published, Transmitted Or Uploaded In Any Way Without My Permission. FINALLY FINALLY! I got to see a gorgeous amazing looking Monarch caterpillar! I LOVE these guys! / to know that…....they eat such a toxic plant….and are able then to transfer that toxicity to thier innards…so when they become butterflies? NOTHING will eat them and remain impartial to the toxins….......... / This fellow was only about finger length…still a bit to go before ready to pupate… / Found inside the wildlife prairie area of Sugar Lake Marsh zone…....
A lovely Crown Fritillary butterfly graced my mint bush today, so I decided to put some pretty flowers and a bit of glow with him as well… ;-)

A beautiful butterfly taken this evening in my backyard.
... And it looks like he borrowed Salvador Dali’s moustache as well ….! This shot was taken in Hosier Lane, in inner-city Melbourne, in July this year. It was a cold winter afternoon with rain and a biting wind. All of a sudden I looked up and noticed a beautiful, warm glow from the lamp suspended exactly halfway across the narrow, bustling lane. I literally stopped in my tracks and composed the shot to make the lamp the central feature. But by choosing my angle carefully, I was able to use this beautiful old building as a backdrop. Look carefully and you’ll notice that each of the three floors has a completely different look. Also, those wide windows show you just how grey the sky was. By reducing the focal length fractionally, I was able to include the dark silhouette on the right, with the distinctive balconies that stand out so clearly. Why? Because it just gives the photograph an extra dimension and endows it with the feel that this might have been an image shot more than a century ago ….. I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F8, 1/125 sec, ISO 400, focal length 108mm.
