I made this with a fineliner and a piece of paper. It’s possible it’s a breach of copyright even though I always write in shapes. If I disappear it’s because a shoe corporation has eaten me for breakfast. Here’s a detail, and below I’ve written out the text because I’m in a good mood. What happened to the days when we only replaced things that were broken, beyond repair? Where does our desire to replace new with newer stem from? How are we so easily convinced that our lives are barely worth living without those extra inches of plasma, that additional megapixel, or another twenty gigabytes of space in which to store the remnants of our increasingly digital lives? To bastardise Victor Papanek, what is this vicious, unhealthy desire to consistently spend money we don’t have on things we don’t need in order to impress others that don’t care? How can we let multi million dollar corporations sell our individuality back to us through a mass produced, sweat shop constructed pieces of apparel? Have we found total freedom or absolute disconnect? / Answers on a postcard to the usual address.

the answer to ANYTHING!
Another older piece. Don’t ask me what it’s supposed to mean, because I don’t have anything resembling an answer. While uploading some of my older work recently I noticed that a lot of the stuff I made during my “marker-crazy” period makes very little sense. Do you think it has something to do with the marker fumes?
A special thank you to Greeneyedlady who was inspired by this picture to write a poem called ‘Voiceless’ ...

Emotions Resist them, and they will destroy you. / Wallow in them, and they will drown you…. / BEcome them and they will rule you. Yet these are the radio waves between the inner core of your being and the All There Is…a link between your knowing and not knowing…… an elusive clue to your many questions. Acknowledge them and they will speak to you. / Feel them, and they will guide you… / Honour them, and they will reveal the deepest truths of your existence.

...the answer never quite matches the call... most gets lost into the translation of emotions to the universe-that-we-imagine-but-don’t-know-it. But for sure it matches what we need to learn…
Who is Silvia? what is she, / That all our swains commend her? / Holy, fair, and wise is she; / The heaven such grace did lend her, / That she might admirèd be. / Is she kind as she is fair? / For beauty lives with kindness. / Love doth to her eyes repair, / To help him of his blindness, / And, being helped, inhabits there. / Then to Silvia let us sing, / That Silvia is excelling; / She excels each mortal thing / Upon the dull earth dwelling: / To her let us garlands bring...Shakespeare Watercolour on Arches Not Paper FEATURED IN THE FOLLOWING GROUPS… / CREATIVE CARDS.. / IMPRESSIONIST ART / FINE ART / The Riddle / Illusion / The Wish / Virtue / The Party / The Beauty / The Star / The Night / The Temptation / The Quiet / The Plea / Le Maquillage
We see you as we see a face / That trembles in a forest place / Upon the mirror of a pool / Forever quiet, clear and cool; / And in the wayward glass, appears / To hover between smiles and tears, / Elfin and human, airy and true, / And backed by the reflected blue...Katharine by / R.L.Stevenson When this painting was finished, I could not help but think of Stevenson’s “Katharine” and her “elfin” face…this delicate “quiet and cool” beauty seems to “mirror” his “trembling face, hovering between smiles and tears”.. As in Bathsheba Everdene, from Thomas Hardy’s “Far from the Madding Crowd”...within a short time of arriving at her aunt’s house, Bathsheba has the neighbouring young men at her feet…independent, beautiful and intelligent, she rises quickly when she inherits her uncle’s farm, then shocks everyone by deciding to manage it herself…..her three suitors are each determined to marry her.. / “The book (which I have read a zillion times), has been described as an early piece of feminist literature, since it features an independent woman with the courage to defy convention by running a farm herself. Although Bathsheba’s passionate nature leads her into serious errors of judgment, Hardy endows her with sufficient resilience, intelligence, and good luck to overcome her youthful folly”.wiki Watercolour on Arches Not Paper / Katharine / Sylvia / The Riddle / Illusion / The Wish / Virtue / The Party / The Beauty / The Star / The Night / The Temptation / The Quiet / The Plea / Le Maquillage
When exactly nine years had passed since this gracious being appeared to me, as I have described, it happened that on the last day of this intervening period this marvel appeared before me again, dressed in purest white, walking between two other women of distinguished bearing, both older than herself. As they walked down the street she turned her eyes toward me where I stood in fear and trembling, and with her ineffable courtesy, which is now rewarded in eternal life, she greeted me; and such was the virtue of her greeting that I seemed to experience the height of bliss. It was exactly the ninth hour of day when she gave me her sweet greeting. As this was the first time she had ever spoken to me, I was filled with such joy that, my senses reeling, I had to withdraw from the sight of others. So I returned to the loneliness of my room and began to think about this gracious person. Dante (La Vita Nuova III) Dante first met Beatrice when he was nine and she was a year younger…he was entranced with her, but they did not meet again until nine years later..he went home and wrote what is considered to be one of the worlds greatest romantic poems, “La Vita Nuova”... many painters have recorded their meeting on the bridge…however there is only one (presumed) portrait of her…I discovered it after I painted this and there is no resemblance.. / Dante thought her angelic…I hope you think the same of my Beatrice... Angels Weep…For the Children There’s a disturbing culture of violence sweeping our schools, resulting in trauma, maiming and even death…..we shed tears and burn with anger and while we search for answers…..more lives are lost and the angels weep. Children are de-sensitized by being drip-fed a steady diet of blood, gore and violence through games and the media yet we have a Not Safe button on the human body…what kind of message does this send?...the human body is something to be abhorred, ashamed of? / Kindergarten was once a place for children to learn social skills, re-enforce discipline and respect for others , develop their imagination and prepare them emotionally for school, now it’s a place of learning, they’re pushed into growing up too quickly. No surprise they’re angry when they can’t keep up..! / . / Recently a 6 year old took a knife to school…now where would a 6 year old learn problem solving involved using a knife! Hiya All, I have recently been asked to share this little tip regarding how i got the effect of such clear steam in my photograph *“OI…
Hiya All, I have recently been asked to share this little tip regarding how i got the effect of such clear steam in my photograph “OIL BURNER” as shown….............. This is not a difficult thing to do and requires absolutely no specialized equipment other than a small LED torch or light.. I use a small bicycle light which gives off a brilliant white light with a very narrow field at reasonably close distances from the subject. Obviously the further away you move the light the wider spread of light you will recieve… Simply aim the torch or light towards the subject you wish to light (in my case it was the steam) trying not to light up anything else and you will recieve a very nice image… I shot the above image with nothing more than using a tripod, auto shot and 1/16 on the flash. The subject was i a reasonably dark room and the only lighting on the subject was from the torch which was around 10 inches away from the steam.. REMEMBER to place the light behind the steam, not infront of it.. I use the little light mainly because i find that most lights for this create to much spread therfore lightingup to much of the object which takes the impact away from the steam or smoke.. LED lights, expecially little torches etc are ideal for placing in close areas to the subject without lighting it up too much… I hope this little tip helps and if anyone has a better way then please let me know as i am always open to knew ideas and methods….
