  • Yes, we live in a paradise here at Hilversum in the Netherlands. Let us state it full of gratitude. With some wonderful countryside around, heath, woodland and polderland! Wherever you go, to the north, the east, the south or the west, you will find places which can tempt the photographer. But he/she must have an open eye and not dream of other continents. Beauty can be so near! If only it is not taken for granted. The other day I was talking to a guy, being impressed by a lightplay on some waterscape and saying: “Wow, is not beautiful?!” The only thing that poor chap could answer was: “Well, should it not be a bit more? You know, when I was in Brazil this spring …” What can one do about blind people? Once again this shot was taken near Lage Vuursche, lying about 5 miles east of Hilversum in the biggest stretch of woodland here in the area. And after you have had your walk, you go and have a Dutch pancake in the little village. But do not do so on Sunday! Lage Vuursche, 22th October 2008, 10.43 am / Nikon D 80, Nikkor 18-200 mm at 82 mm / F 5,6, 1/100, ISO 500

  • I got inspired for the idea of this work after reading an article about the possible colors of alien worlds in a magazine called Scientific American. This is a female character from another world dreaming about what possible creatures could exist on other worlds. She is manifesting imagery of different creatures with her powers and wondering if they really exist somewhere in the universe. I used Painter and Photoshop for this work, no references were used.

  • A more dramatic interpretation of my previous post. /

  • Aug and Sept brings a daily check for storms and a feeling of Uncertainly . Even my dog goes on her own to the closet and tries to sleep. • Taken under the High Level Bridge in Newcastle, this shadow display was on the side of the Bridge Hotel near the keep of the Newcastle castle. The passer by was a wonderful bonus. Converted into black and white and best viewed large. Featured by the kind hosts of the Who needs colour for beauty – black and white art at it’s best

  • Taken with a Canon 50D, Sigma 10-20 lens at 10mm, F11, shutter speed 5 seconds, ISO100, tweaked in Photoshop Whilst down in Kent a few months ago we visited Canterbury Cathedral. It is an amazing building, the archictecture is just jaw dropping, a place well worth a visit. A while back I tried to get rid of the converging verticals on the shot but ended up with several wobbly walls (lol) because each pillar converged differently so the converging verticals version it is. The Cathedral’s history goes back to 597AD when St Augustine, sent by Pope Gregory the Great as a missionary, established his seat (or ‘Cathedra’) in Canterbury. In 1170 Archbishop Thomas Becket was murdered in the Cathedral and ever since, the Cathedral has attracted thousands of pilgrims, as told famously in Geoffrey Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales. Canterbury Cathedral in Canterbury, Kent, is one of the oldest and most famous Christian structures in England and forms part of a World Heritage Site as of 9th December 1988. Please view large
