Taken outside Museum of Modern Art, New York City. I felt this captured the essence of the frustration of people using cellphones, everywhere, all the time. This photo has won a number of awards both locally and nationally in New Zealand.

I found this beautiful patch of lilies outside of the local / prison. It was ironic to see the barbed wire fence just beyond them in the distance. Made me terribly grateful to be standing at that spot-at that moment.. / / / >Featured< in United States / / / Laminated Print / / Framed Print / / /

I walked out of my house a few weeks back and saw a blade of grass that has seemingly burst through the tarmac. / . / I thought about it all that day. And by the evening I was in the most joyous mood. / . / Whether climate change is man’s fault or not, whether this evolution is as natural as can be or a total fuck up. All is still well. In 10 years, 10,000 years or whenever we’ll probably die out anyway. The planet will probably heat up or cool down, and they’ll be X thousand/million years of desert/ice age. Then maybe the temperature may stabilise, and in a pond somewhere a small bubble will rise to the surface, and so it goes on, another species will grow from the bedlam, maybe with bigger ears or forty seven hands. And nothing will be left of all the shit we made. nature will have destroyed it, and if this species evolves enough to have such a thing as an archeologist, they won’t know anything about us because all they’ll find are strange metal boxes, as our entire lives are on a hard drive these days. / . / We’re just another Dinosaur. / . / And this made me happy. I’m a big picture kind of guy. And yes I regularly stare into the oceans at night in silence. / . / This will probably offend anyone who thinks there’s a big cheese upstairs controlling everything, but if they can show me where in the bible it mentions Dinosaurs, I’ll apologise. / . / N.B. This has nothing to do with dead stags, and I’m ready for an attack…. / . / /
As your hand rubs at your throat as if it were your own neck sliced so cruelly, you have a momentary calm come over you. After all, this must be a dream, right? First you find Sylvia, bound and hung from a tree, then Dr. Feels bludgeoned to death in the Chapel, and now you walk into your guest bedroom and find Lillian, bled out and lifeless on the floor. What is this horrible island? you want to scream, but know that no one would hear you in such a large house. / After having found Sylvia, you told Rudy, her son, of the horrible scene… on return from investigating it, however, he harshly berated you for playing such a horrible prank. “There is no one out there.” He said coldly. “Mother is most likely in her bedroom asleep by now… why don’t you be a good girl and run along to bed too?” The last of the sentence had an edge to it which made it clear to you that he was not to be bothered any more. / You had almost managed to convince yourself you HAD seen nothing, until an hour later when, hoping to find solace in the chapel, you instead found the blood smeared body of the good doctor propped up on one of the front pews, a heavy religious icon on the floor at his feet. This time you had run to find Lillian, but you couldn’t locate her anywhere. You ran to the bathroom and dry heaved for a few minutes, composed yourself, and returned to the guest-room you shared with your best friend. / That is, you once shared with your best friend. Now her lifeless body lay prostrate before you. Suddenly, strangely, you note that more than fear or sadness, you’re curious… Lillian’s hair had always been a short, dark bob… but now she was wearing it very long and blond, unlike anyone you had seen in recent fashion. Lillian had never mentioned she wore a wig… but why hide it? Why wear a wig to begin with? / This nightmare on the island was growing only more and more baffling (not to mention dangerous)... you wipe your brow and step out of the room to think. The next move you make may be your very last…

Winner of the Bacchus Marsh Rotary Club Art Show, photography section 2009. Since exhibiting this at the art show I’ve had many people tell me they are very familiar with this corner of road and never seen anything beautiful about it before. It is very gratifying to hear that they now look at this part of the world with different eyes. This image was taken at the suggestion by an acquaintance (thank you, Keryl) when I was telling her about my water project (to photograph local bodies of water). Being that there is little about, puddles are a bit of an oddity, but this morning’s wonderfully special light helped to make this image (in my opinion) exceptional and I’m quite excited about the result. It raises thoughts in my mind about the concept of alternate or parallel universes being linked by a reflection, kept apart by a fragile, gossamer field. This image as is. There has been no alteration to colour, not even cropping or rotation adjustment. Taken in Woolpack Rd, Bacchus Marsh / 22 July 2008 / Looking towards the Avenue of Honour.

Well at least it would be if I had my way, living in Glenmaggie and just spending the majority of my time photographing its beauty. But anyway, yes it was shot at Lake Glenmaggie, Victoria.
