I had planned on finishing my super top secret squirell tee that actually had meaning and valid social comment but my mind walked off on me and left me to have a cup of tea with Sanchez and Gavin. Sadly, they were out of tequila too (Gavin gets into the bottle all the time and isn’t very good at sharing) Can some one give me a hand with deciding WTF to do with Sanchez’s body? He looks like an anorexic teddy bear. Early days. Just you wait till I get my hands on a cracked copy of Illustrator and finally master the pen tool. I’ll be like He-Man on Greyskull waving it about like a bodybuilder in a furry nappy.

I was hesitant about posting this up on RB, not sure how people will take it. I actually found this in an old notebook. I wrote it for an English project. We had to pick and research a social issue and present it to the class. We also had to write a short story, song, or poem to go along with the presentation and I picked a poem. I think eating disorders are something that everyone knows about but don’t always talk about. I think people should talk about it. There’s always people out there willing to listen.

I was inspired to write this piece as I look through countless magazines and see these women in the news. Yes, they are beautiful, we are so easy to judge them by this fact alone. Yet their pictures are photoshopped, nipped and tucked to perfection before the public sees them. We also judge them by every wrong move they make, when they are already judging themselves, so much harsher than any of us can ever make. They are so loved and so hated at the same time. So much judgement on such vulnerable beings…..... Featured in LIFELINE – 24th Oct 2009
