Taken in a local club with the nifty Canon 50mm f1.8….sort of a point the camera and shoot….he was right next to me, no time to aim
Historic Hunter Bailey Church, (c1886) located on Johnston St, Annandale. Located on highest point of suburb. Can be seen from the Sydney Harbour Bridge, also around the corner from where i live.
An abandoned Victorian Italianate style house (c.1880-90) in Annandale, an inner city suburb of Sydney. Sitting proudly in a corner position of this hip and happening suburb, it had once been loved and cared for – if you look closely, you can see that one of the previous owners, at some stage, installed an alarm – a measure sure to deter possible intruders. Today, some of the lacework is missing, the fence posts have deteriorated, the concrete probably has cancer, the garden is full of weeds, steps to the front door are missing…will nobody love it anymore?
This is an image of Mary kneeling. The knee and it’s adjacent piece of curtain are entirely new. I found the knee quite challenging as there were hardly any remnants of the original glass to work from. Had to generate a pencil drawing first in order to do the glass painting. Gave it an extra matte in the deepest shadows, after I took this photo, just to make it match in more completely.

When the black dog comes around, music is often the only thing that can shoo him away. Here a member of Melbourne-based punk band The Assassination Collective beats off the darkness at the Annandale Hotel in early 2008. Focal Length: 57.3mm / 1/160s / f/3.5 / ISO: 800

Annandale, Sydney. As I stopped to record this fairly extensive creation, a delightful young lad walked past and asked me what I thought of it. I told him I thought it was rather marvellous. “Oh good”, he said, “I did the green bits”. He then went on to explain that the “creation” was constantly changing as different artists added or overlaid their contributions. He also mentioned that the wall (on one side of a laneway) was due to be demolished as the house owners were about to do some renovations. “Not to worry, though”, he added. “There are lots of other places”.
