  • Though I wanted one for most of my life I did not get my first tattoo until I turned 45… guess it took me that long to figure out what I wanted. This tattoo reads from top to bottom “Protector of eternal life” The Ankh is my design and it is on my lower right leg. I am working on the design of my next one and it will be a variation of one of my paintings that was inspired from a photograph of my favorite model… Hopefully this year sometime :)

  • “The ankh (symbol ☥) was the Egyptian hieroglyphic character that read “life”. Egyptian gods are often portrayed carrying it by its loop, or bearing one in each hand, arms crossed over their chest. It is also known as the Egyptian Cross, the key of life, the key of the Nile, or as crux ansata, Latin for “cross with a handle”. ” – Source: Wikipedia.org

  • A new digital painting that shows Anubis preparing a pharaoh for the Afterlife. Various symbols from Egyptian mythology and culture are strategically placed within this colourful piece to reveal secret meanings. The work was created as a tribute to the great contribution this powerful and ancient culture has made to the World. ~ Skye “Anubis is the Greek name for a jackal-headed god associated with mummification and the afterlife in Egyptian mythology. In the ancient Egyptian language, Anubis is known as Inpu, (variously spelled Anupu). The oldest known mention of Anubis is in the Old Kingdom pyramid texts, where he is associated with the burial of the king. At this time, Anubis was the most important god of the Dead but he was replaced during the Middle Kingdom by Osiris.” (Info Source: Wikipedia)

  • ORIGINAL FOR SALE $450 plus P&H Created in a twelve layer sacred geometry pattern and I just had to do cats, so I chose the egyptian Mau and improvised. This mandala evolved in four successive geometrys and the final result was quite a surprise. As with all my mandalas, the end result is never expected. Called Reflection for three reasons: 1. As in reflecting back the image or the issue (mirror image) / 2. As in reflecting harm (thus a shield) / 3. As in reflecting on all that is going on in your life (contemplation) This mandala is also called Mau-Miw, self evident I feel, but for those of you who don’t quite get the bizarre twists of my mind – Mau and Miw are from old Egypt – the Mau is the main breed of Egyptian cat. A popular belief is that the Mau may be descended from the cat symbolized by the Ancient Egyptian gods of Ra and Bast, a theory that is given credence by the pattern on its brow that resembles the sacred scarab beetle, which is often found on the foreheads of cats depicted on Egyptian murals. / Miw is the ancient Egyptian name for the domestic cat – a sacred and respected animal that achieved god status. Oh and (of course LOL) its the sounds cats make! Meow, Mew (among many others) LOL They are contemplating each other under the flat shimmer of the full moon, encircled by sacred lotus and bound by the ankh. This is a very simple design with complex geometry and meaning. It is overlaid with metallics which aren’t showing up online so you’ll just have to imagine the shimmer in the paint and the lines… This is a protection shield mandala. I really need it at the moment!

  • Mullo (Muli: female, Mulo: male) is an undead, revenant, or vampire of gypsy (Roma) folklore. ‘Mullo’ means ‘one who is dead’. A dead person would return and do bad things and/or feed on the blood of a living person. Perhaps a tattoo design? I wanted something purely black and white. Something that represents an aspect of the vampire, vampyre. 8×10.5 / Sharpie.

  • This one on the same leg as my ankh tattoo and is the scarab. This is actually the logo used for the Scarab Club in Detroit, MI I did modify the color scheme a bit. It is on my right thigh across from the heart tattoo on my left leg.

  • Original watercolor and inkline depiction of “The Queen of Wands” tarot card designed for an Art Nouveau deck. I designed this piece as part of a proposal for an all-female tarot card deck to be depicted in an art nouveau style. I also wanted the women to have different ethnicities depending on suit and for the deck to combine astrological (signs) and wiccan (elements, Four Directions, seasons) components into each card in a meaningful way. I see Wands as a Fire suit, with a Southern direction, situated at noon during a blazing summer. Wands signify the spark of creativity, energy and growth, and I wanted my Queen of Wands to be truly regal and somewhat fierce. Believe me, I had no idea when I painted her that she would end up looking so much like our First Lady! She says, “I Am”, “I Will” and “I Know”. I envisioned all the women in the Wands suit as being African, and this Queen is seated in her throne with her sunflower amidst the most creative of endeavors ever: the pyramids. Her wand is carved with the zodiac symbols Aries, Leo and Sagittarius. All wands are depicted in hot colors and earth tones. This original artwork is copyright Ramona Szczerba 2006.
