Capturing Cridders is a portfolio of images celebrating animal life, pets, wildlife and love of fur and feather, foul and fishy, creeping and the unusual, exploring my growing interest in animal photography and illustration and anything animally- this portfolio is not about commercial imaging, its about the love I have for animals especially those I live with. So far just domestics on view but soon wilder life and my illustration and watercolours. / All the piccs are for sale but I will be surpised if any sell as I am not about producing a saleable work in this portfolio at least in the happy snaps- its purely for me about sharing a new interest and a capturing the moment in snapshots. / I really hope you enjoy the view and thankyou for your interest !!!

In 2004 I became involved with the pet reptile industry which was new to Western Australia. We were one of the last states to come on board and were behind the rest of Australia, Europe and the US by at least 10 years in experience and breeding. As well as looking after the animals I was also photographing them for catalogues, websites and advertising. When I photograph I try to find the “essence” of a subject and normally find that when I photograph “up close and personal”. Reptiles are some of the most amazing creatures “up close and personal” as you can see from my designs. I didn’t really have a uniform so I went looking for “reptile” tshirts for women to wear to work and was sadly disappointed in what I found. So I set out to design a range of images for shirts for all those girls out there that like our cold and scaly friends!

I’ve always taken art as a hobby, never something I’d ever thought I’d want to pursue. But recently, I’ve been considering taking art seriously. Or maybe just a little temporary project to help earn money for university. I’ve considered being an illustrator for manga and anime style art but also other types of visual art (pen + ink, pencil + charcoal sketches) Time is objective. I’ll just have to see what happens. In the mean time, useful criticisms for any art work I post up would be greatly appreciated. I’d like to improve as much as I can, even if art still is a hobby.

i have up loaded 3 versions of an avatar logo i animated .gif which i spent ages on and then realized to my horror that it was still (even when the web site stated “Upload a New Portrait You can upload almost any kind of image at any size — we’ll take care of the resizing and cropping automatically.” almost mean’t not an animated gif….) but never mind the moving red bubbles did look nice 3hours later I also uploaded 3 images / Birdman i love u love PINK… pink feathery valentine..love pink and then read about no borders so my 4th image dew incrustered tea rose does not have a border I will have to reload the other two. I don’t do much blogging, but here goes. A while ago, I had a really good Idea (not related to anime) that I can’t leave as an idea or let go. So I’ve taken some time off from anime and art while I get things started in an attempt to make the world a better place. I should have the results of it ready for you all to view fairly soon and I’m certain you will all be very impressed with the endeavor. I just got some preliminary stuff back from my developers and I’m very excited that it is coming along so well. I will however still be dropping by here at RB every couple of days even once things get moving. Maybe I’ll even do some photo documentation, who knows. Wish me luck!

I just hear about the Maybe figure by Mowais/Akatora. He’s been around for some time apparently and I can’t believe I didn’t hear about him sooner. He is by far the best figure for Toon/anime cell rendering available and I can’t believe the creator is giving him away for free! I really think Content Parasite is going to wind up buying him like they did Near Me. I will most certainly be frankensteining his head onto every other figure it will fit onto. Here is a sample:

Here is my first ever animation; it’s riddled with mistakes I’ll have to fix (I was in such a hurry to save it and make it available on a medium apart from the computer it was created on…) and I will fix them, but I just enjoy looking at it in a context where it’s out there – for other people to have a look at as well… I hope you find it a fun 30 odd seconds… and I_ certainly_ hope you’ll get to see the rest of it as it all unfolds over the next while. ‘The files from my cabinet’ TEASER is the opening credits of Nicholby Hardup (Private Detective) and his Hardup Crack Team’s adventures. A 20 part season of mad and surreal animations based on the radio series starring David Jobling with special guests including Steve Bisley, Kate Fitzpatrick, Steve O, Holly Hunter, Basil Brush, Harvey Peakar and Ian McKellen. It started as a radio series a few years ago, in the mid-2000’s. I produced it based on some original concepts and just had a bit of fun with it… The show would air on 2SER FM on a Friday morning during the Breakfast program (hosted by Daz & Antony. It was all bit of fun. Nicholby would do a phone spot for a few months, informing people of what was on for free around town; and then it just seemed like a fun thing to put him into a sort of silly radio serial based more or less on those old mystery 1950’s Private Dick type things… I compiled a special as well The Hardup Crack Team with spots from Bob Downe and Prunella Scales among others. So anyway when I needed to create my first animation for an assessment task at school this last semester, I figured I’d bring the radio material to life. Give it a second life. After all it’s just sitting there doing nothing. It wouldn’t be possible to complete the whole series in the time allocated for the assessment, so I created what would potentially be the opening credits. A bit of foolishness, silly and surreal in its own way. Something to make me laugh, which is what The Hardup Crack Team was all about. A laugh. Here’s the link to check out the whole 37 seconds. The Cats of Montcocher calendar features the felines that pass their days in our 15th Century manoir in the heart of the Normandy countryside. Most of the cats are ours (we have six now, it was eight at one time), plus a couple of lodgers who visited for extended periods. More calendars to come soon.

Finally! Alright, so I finally finished the last two animals in The Animal 12 series this afternoon. The 12 Animals are: / The Walrus, The Mouse, The Dog, The Rabbit, The Cow, The Sheep, The Giraffe, The Tiger, The Llama (of course), The Fox, The Gecko and The Penguin. You can see the whole series here. For the next 4 months (until June 11th, 2009) all proceeds from The Animal 12 will be donated to the Youth Emergency Shelter Society located in Edmonton, AB. For more info on YESS and their programs for at risk youth, visit www.yess.org. On September 26th 2009, Me, My son and our Puppy, Rozz, Will be taking part in the 2009 Walk for the Animals for the Humane Society. Information about this event can be found at http://www.berkshumane.org/events/events_walk.asp We would love you to sponsor us, if you can, it is for a really worthwhile cause – the Humane Society looks after sick, injured, abandoned, unwanted and unloved animals of all shapes and sizes and provides medical care, a loving environment, help and advice as well as help in finding new homes for these animals. Last year the event raised a truck load of money and housed 3,000+ walkers!! This year the walk is going to house 3,000 walkers plus us!! The Humane Society is a non profit organisation and does not recieve any government funding. They really do rely on the help of all donations.
