WILD AND FREE This Polar Bear mum and cubs were a long way out on the sea ice looking for seals. / / The sea ice is shrinking at an alarming rate, which has a huge impact for the bears as this is their main hunting ground. This is Hope my Lurcher, on a snowy febuary day in 2007, she wasn’t that keen on the weather but did oblige me with this quirky shot. I have another Lurcher called Grace as well as Rubicon and Renegade the Ferrets who complete the team, Hope has the nose for finding quarry and Grace has the speed to fill my freezer. Here are the two dogs playing in the snow.

American White Ibis, Eudocimus albus is a species of wading bird of the ibis family Threskiornithidae which occurs from the mid-Atlantic coast of the United States south through most of the New World tropics. It occurs in marshy wetlands and pools near the coast. It also occurs on mowed grass, lawns, and has become common in some city parks, where it can be found feeding alone or with other Ibis. It builds a stick nest in trees, bushes, or over water, and 2 to 5 eggs are typically laid. White ibises are monogamous and colonial, usually nesting in mixed colonies with other wading species. This ibis feeds by probing with its long, downcurved beak. Its diet consists of various fish, frogs and other water creatures, as well as insects and small reptiles. Adults are 65 cm long with a 95 cm wingspan. They have all-white plumage except for black wingtips (visible in flight) and reddish bills and legs. The red bill blends into the face of breeding birds; non-breeding birds show a pink to red face. Juveniles are largely brown with duller bare parts; they are distinguished from the Glossy and White-faced Ibises by white underparts and rumps. Over all both sexes look alike. Like the other species of ibis, the White Ibis flies with neck and legs outstretched, often in long, loose lines. The song of the male is an advertising hunk-hunk-hunk-hunk. The female squeals. When feeding, the birds often give a soft, grunting croo, croo, croo as they forage. The snow is falling for it is mid winter, the mare .. a gentle soul .. does not notice .. for she is free .. one of the wild ones .. that roam the mountains and forests… although she is much sort after by the native americans she remains free

I walked to about 30 feet away and then got “the look” from this guy so decided I was close enough! Bighorn Sheep are named for the large, curved horns borne by the males, or rams. Females, or ewes, also have horns, but they are short with only a slight curvature. They range in color from light brown to grayish or dark, chocolate brown, with a white rump and lining on the back of all four legs. Males typically weigh 127-316 lb (58–143 kg), are 36-41 in (90–105 cm) tall at the shoulder, and 69-79 in (176–200 cm) long from the nose to the tail. Females typically are 75-188 lb (34–85 kg), 30-36 in (75–90 cm) tall and 54-67 in (138–171 cm) long.[14] Bighorns from the Rocky Mountains are relatively large, with males that occasionally exceed 500 lb (230 kg) and females that exceed 200 lb (90 kg). In contrast, Sierra Nevada Bighorn males weigh up to only 200 lb (90 kg) and females to 140 lb (60 kg). Males’ horns can weigh up to 30 lb (14 kg), as much as the rest of the bones in the male’s body.
