this gang of Adelie penguins gave me a great opportunity for quite a series of entertaining photographs as they zoomed busily about their icy playground. This photo has become a symbol of connection and friendship among my own personal group of nearest and dearest friends.
All proceeds go to an Australian environmental charity, the Nature Conservation Council

Tiger Tiger, Tiger, burning bright / In the forests of the night; / Dappled light on furrowed brow, / What careless loss hath man wrought now? In what distant fields or woods / Has your kind been gone for good! / Oh lost hope is not our creed, / We used our greed to do this deed! Stripes of onyx on amber strides, / We raped your kind, you can not hide! / And when thy heart lay still and dry, / Perhaps by then we learn to cry! Bullets, traps, dogs, the like, / Chased you deep into that dark night. / At times you taunted from bamboo lairs, / Places so tight a man not dare! Your kind is leaving, / tis sad our loss! / We beat our chests, / death has no boss! Stars threw down their spears on you / And water’d heaven with their tears / You lay their, dying, filled with fear! Did he who made the Lamb make thee? / Another day you shall not see. Tiger, Tiger, burning bright, / In the forests, one last night: / What immoral hand or eye, / Took your fire and made you cry? Adapted and altered by Mundy Hackett, based upon the famous poem entitled ‘The Tyger” by Sir William Blake! Save the tiger, save the planet, save those things which we wantonly destroy through our greed and incessant pursuit for domination of the natural world. The planet is a living organism, the tiger is but one example of the fire beating in it’s heart, but with each tiger lost in the wild the fire burns a little less brightly. Don’t let the fire go out, save the tiger, save the world! / / / / Part of my line promoting awareness and raising funds for endangered species globally. This is also available as cards and prints. It’s a bit interesting to see a winged and a flightless bird having a barny. The little Adele penguin was outraged by the attack of the Arctic Tern who was defending possible intrusion on their nesting area on a nearby cliff..

This motive has been on the bubble as a T-shirt for a while, and I’ve had a few requests for posters so here we are. / I don’t know why I didn’t do this from the beginning, but anyway better late than never I guess. It has been my best selling tee ever so far, and it is one of the vector pictures I am the most proud of. / The concept of this design was an idea I had bumping around in my head for a very long time before I jumped in to it and first put it to paper. / It was tossed around for a while together with thousands of ideas and idea snippets, collected throughout my life. / Ideas I take care of in notepads and on paper scraps of different origin and quality that I stuff in to boxes of different orig….a.s.f. Then one day (triggered by a vid I saw on the youtube. It was about how animals in African wild parks are exploited for cash) I had the idea with the blood and that was it…I went straight for the computer and scanned my sketches of the zebra/barcode ideas. Then I brought it all together in Adobe Illustrator for execution (My absolute favourite vector app.). I let the design sit on my computer screen for a couple of days as I did tiny little corrections now and then. / Afterwards I hid it for a few weeks, and then I published it after a few more minor enhancements…..and voila! POS /
This is a collaborative transatlantic entry between myself and the incredibly talented and totally awesome billyboy in Belgium for RedBubbles Gaia – The Living Planet competition. Now, I’m not a religious person, but I wanted to illustrate by using billyboys Noah’s Ark image that if we dont start taking care of this planet we are living on I truly / believe we will be in for a disaster of biblical proportions. All that is beautiful and wondrous will simply disappear… like so many ephemeral bubbles. We are all interconnected, and we must find our harmony with Gaia, or risk losing it all. Many thanks to billyboy for sharing my vision, and giving so generously of his time, blood, tears and love to bring this vision into glorious life. Concept: Rhana / Background artwork: Billyboy / Art within the bubbles: Rhana / Bubble creation: Billyboy / Design: Rhana / Title Inspiration: Billyboy For those interested in buying the totally hawt tee of this image its now available over at billyboys place. Proceeds from sales of the tee go to the STV Foundation.

If you prick us do we not bleed? If you tickle us do we not laugh? If you poison us do we not die? And if you wrong us, shall we not revenge? -Shakespeare Every year sealers bludgeon seals with clubs and “hakapiks” (clubs with a metal hook on the end), drag conscious seals across the ice floes with boat hooks, and toss dead and dying animals into heaps and leave their carcasses to rot because there is no market for their meat. Seals are also shot, but bludgeoning is preferred, because pelt buyers deduct money for every bullet hole in a seal’s skin. Veterinarians who studied a past hunt concluded that the hunters failed to comply with Canada’s basic animal welfare standards and that 42 percent of the seals appeared to have been skinned alive. Despite Canada’s ‘new and improved’ methods being implemented this year, sealers are still slaughtering these pups in the same way they have for previous years. It’s unconscionable. The Missing Remaining White Rhinos / The White Rhino is believed to be on the brink of extinction. In April 2003 there were 30 rhinos. In 2006 there were only 4 confirmed animals but worryingly, recent fieldwork in 2008 has so far failed to find any presence of these four remaining White Rhinos. Could it be they are disguising themselves as common Zebra to avoid poachers? On the face of it a humorous image but in reality, another depressing effect man has had on the natural world. This t-shirt has been designed to be printed black on black, so be brave and choose the black tee option, it will print like this: / /

Adapted from an old disarmament t-shirt from the 70’s – it originally read ‘stop the arms race’.
This took a while – extremely enjoyable and relaxing. In fact I may just do another in this theme. There is no background colour so by changing the colour of the tee it will give the frog a different look. CLICK HERE to buy this owl from the Phoenix-Appeal raising money for victims of the Victoria Bush Fires This little owl is currently trying to help raise some much needed funds to aid and assist people who have fallen victim to the dreadful bush fires in Victoria at the moment ….the card is available for purchase at Phoenix-Appeal and I would ask that you click on the link and purchase the owl from there instead, so the money will go directly to the appeal…. / 1 Sale so far / / CHUNKIE Mother and Boy Child / / CHUNKIE Calendar Series One now available / / Chunkies are a new series of figurines I am working on .. / / CHUNKIE Birthday Fairy / / CHUNKIE Owl / / CHUNKIE Lotus Love on Golden Pond / / CHUNKIE Sunshine / / CHUNKIE / Elephant / / CHUNKY Diver / / CHUNKY Indian / / CHUNKIE Surfer / / CHUNKIE Ballerina / / CHUNKIE Geisha / / CHUNKIES in love / / CHUNKIE Hula girl / / CHUNKIE China / / CHUNKIE Lollipop Lover / / CHUNKIE Forest / / CHUNKIE Party / / CHUNKIE Pirate / / CHUNKIE Mod Girl / / CHUNKIE Tooth Fairy / / CHUNKIE Mother and Child / / CHUNKIE Wedding / Next in line is CHUNKIE Owl – made originally from black plasticine, he has been photographed with a number of things like bits of forest floor and pebbles and sand…also used a beautiful piece of coral which is the white branches behind the little owl…his eyes, face and wings are all photoshopped in, and his little body’s colour has changed to give it a golden glow. Makes a nice greeting card for anyone for any reason, since owls are very popular. Once the Chunkies are created and photographed, I usually dismantle them to be used in the creation of more chunkies, so I am recycling the plasticine. These Chunkies have been very therapeutic to create over the holidays, whilst taking a break from red bubble and having my family around. I have many more to come, and although I won’t be on RB as much, I hope to also be doing some serious painting this year…so i look forward 2009 with much anticipation …

Earth Watch tonight 8.30 – 9.30 Australia, turn off your lights for 1 hour :) / before photoshop colouring it was just a pencil sketch as above / / / Mother Nature a pencil drawing on paper / i’ve coloured this in photoshop this drawing came about while I was holidaying on an island off the Qld coast recently, I was there when the oil spill happened, and a cyclone threatened to disturb our lovely rest….but as it happened, we were not disturbed by either of these events, and were lucky enough to connect with dolphins each and every day, this is from my latest “Connection” series, it’s about our connection with creation and every living thing, especially the beautiful dolphins of Tangalooma.. I hand fed the dolphins and Tinkerbell, a mother dolphin gave me what i like to call 5 dolphin kisses to the hand. I also encountered the other dolphins called Echo, the 2 baby dolphins, one named Phoenix and it was a really special time for me. Dolphin facts I learned at Tangalooma: . Baby dolphins have hair and whiskers…they have a hairy growth on their fluke/tail and they have whiskers on their face, so that their mother knows when they are going to suckle…it tickles her and she can get into the right position . The pack of dolphins at Tangalooma have given many gifts of fish and / things like eels to their feeders and the staff their, which are in a glass display case with the various stories . The baby dolphins ‘play’ with puffer fish…they annoy the puffers til they PUFF and then toss them to and fro on the surface like they are ping pong balls . Dolphins chase their prey upside down . Many dolphins get entangled in fishing line and makes them unable to feed properly, as it gets around their fluke and around their mouths….they eventually die if they don’t receive intervention . The males get into packs and they fight for dominance, the stress of this shortens their lifespan, so the females actually live longer . A baby dolphin suckles for the first 18 months and does not eat anything while suckling…during that time the juvenile dolphin learns to hunt, they are not born with these skills, they are learned. . A baby dolphin suckles approximately every 10 minutes . Other dolphins in the pack protect the baby dolphins while the mother dolphin feeds, etc . Dolphins are mammals and share many similarities with humans…. / they can see well above and below the water :) . At Monkey Mia in Western Australia where they also feed wild dolphins, only the male dolphins come in to feed now, they have bullied the female dolphins so that they don’t come in to shore anymore….
