Sea urchins are small, spiny sea creatures of the class Echinoidea found in oceans all over the world. The name urchin is an Old English name for the round spiny hedgehogs sea urchins resemble. Their shell, which is also called the “test”, is globular in shape and covered with spines. The size of an adult test is typically from 3 to 10 cm. These urchin ‘tests’ were being sold alongside some large clam shells. Sold a Mounted Print on RedBubble to a Mystery buyer.

Hello everyone, meet Kenny! Kenny’s a young baby tortoise.. He’s quiet and shy but very loving.. he loves to nudge Julian with his little head.. and with his super cute baby eyes, Julian can’t help but adopt lil Kenny as his godson.. (bet he didn’t know that lil Kenny will outgrow him in size one day.. kekeke…) Yep, Kenny’s currently living at the same beach Tim and Julian posed for Summer Fun.. XD / this is my first time coloring with a wacom.. pretty fun.. How many sales of this design – 1 sale so far :) / Pelican Love is from the ‘Beach Series’ and ‘Friends Series’ of original paintings by Karin Taylor. / It was created using ink and pastel on pastel paper. There is a beautiful story about the love that pelicans have for their babies, I thought I’d share it with you Reference taken from the Wikepedia Encyclopedia (please forgive the length of this, but it is SO interesting, thought I may as well share the whole thing !) In medieval Europe, the pelican was thought to be particularly attentive to her young, to the point of providing her own blood when no other food was available. As a result, the pelican became a symbol of the Passion of Jesus and of the Eucharist. It also became a symbol in bestiaries for self-sacrifice, and was used in heraldry (“a pelican in her piety” or “a pelican vulning (wounding) herself”). Another version of this is that the pelican used to kill its young and then resurrect them with its blood, this being analogous to the sacrifice of Jesus. Thus the symbol of the Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS) is a pelican, and for most of its existence the headquarters of the service was located at Pelican House in Dublin, Ireland. For example, the emblems of both Corpus Christi College, Cambridge and Corpus Christi College, Oxford are pelicans, showing its use as a medieval Christian symbol (‘Corpus Christi’ means ‘body of Christ’). Likewise a folktale from India says that a pelican killed her young by rough treatment but was then so contrite that she resurrected them with her own blood.[1] These legends may have arisen because the pelican used to suffer from a disease that left a red mark on its chest[citation needed]. Alternatively it may be that pelicans look as if they are stabbing themselves as they often press their bill into their chest to fully empty their pouch. Yet other possibilities are that they often rest their bills on their breasts, and that the Dalmatian Pelican has a blood-red pouch in the early breeding season.[1]

Stink Beetles is from an original painting by Karin Taylor. / The original painting won a prize at the Horizons Art Gallery in South Tweed Heads, Northern NSW and subsequently sold at same exhibition. / This was terrific fun to create…...in the end i added googly eyes that you can buy from the craft shop…..and they move around if you shake the painting… lol / there’s lashing of ink, pastel, acrylic and charcoal on this painting, layers and layers of fun and gigantic mess was created in the process…..but from the chaos out came these lovely luminescent beetles that my heart adores….ever since i was little, i have been fascinated with some aspects of nature, particularly beetles, lizards, flowers, cats, foxes, baby birds….i am but a dreamer :) of all these, stink beetles were perhaps my favourite, because of their magnificent shields of luminescent/iridescent colour glinting in the sun as they paraded up and down the tree trunks and either side of the leaves, fascinating creatures….....thought it an appropriate one for Easter Sunday…new life and all that~

The Penguin Parade is located on Phillip Island, Victoria, Australia, only 140 kilometres south-east of Melbourne. It is part of Phillip Island Nature Park. The area is a reserve designed to protect and promote awareness of Little Penguins (previously called Fairy Penguins). The first night I was on Phillip Island I went to the Penguin Parade. Each night at sunset, the world’s smallest penguins, the Little Penguins, emerge from the sea and waddle ashore to their sand dune burrows with bellies full of the days catch. I was amazed at how far they travel from their burrows. The elevated boardwalks and viewing stands allow you to enjoy all the ‘penguin action’ without disturbing them or their burrow homes. / I stayed on the platform and watched them for two hours, getting soaked in rain storms and freezing winds…........was worth it !!! And yes it was Summer LOL / / BTW you are not permitted to take any photographic equipment into the boardwalk/ platform area. This shot however was taken at The Nobbies area on the side of a cliff. The penguins are a bluish colour and are so adorable, was hard to leave. / Jan 08

It’s a bit interesting to see a winged and a flightless bird having a barny. The little Adele penguin was outraged by the attack of the Arctic Tern who was defending possible intrusion on their nesting area on a nearby cliff..

Image straight from the camera. Yesterday the weather in London was beautiful so I spent the day outdoor / walking through the parks, and the squirrels are very friendly. This particular shot was in the Royal Parks. While I was trying to set-up my camera to take a photo, this little guy suddenly climbed up my leg! I missed the opportunity to take its picture while it was there; this is just another moment while it was still reallyclose by. The light and dark areas in the eye may look like the iris and the white of the eye, but that is actually caused by reflections; The dark bit at the bottom left corner of the eye is a reflection of myself with the camera:
