Of the two albino squirrels that I shot this morning, one was still a little sleepy. I was trying to get a clear shot of his entire head, but I couldn’t get the angle needed. Still, that twig was gripped in the squirrel’s hind foot, so I guess it was a good trade-off. It was also a rare treat to catch this little critter sleeping. The more that I look at this picture, the more that I love it. I can’t look at it now without smiling. I also now tend to reflect upon the helplessness of nature as man continues to invade their environment. How many animals will lose their homes to man’s quest for more profit today, tomorrow, the years ahead?

A commission I did some time ago as a raffle prize. Wildon Impressive, ‘Imp’, for short, is a lovely Arabian pony stallion. He sure did show off for me on photo day, prancing around, giving me lovely photos to work from. Derwent colour pencils , white gouache and black ink on mat board. 36×45cm. 2006 Has been featured in ‘Equine Art and Photography’, ‘Traditional Equine Art: Horses, Ponies and Unicorns’ and ‘The Pony Club’ groups.
