It’s not everyday you get to see a species known for its ferocity, showing tenderness instead. These are two Lion brothers (captivity) who had spent most of the morning playfully teasing each other before they sat down to…well….no other word for it – “cuddle”. This was the only shot I got that worked as they were partially obscured by a toy in their enclosure. On review I was very lucky, not only was there a beautiful symmetry in the lions’ head positions, but both eyes were closed in the ‘moment’ as well. The image has been edited for a more dramatic effect and to perfectly isolate the two animals and their experience. Not the Chinese dictator, but our lovely cat Mao :-) Here is the photo I took for reference – I am sure you’ll agree I didn’t just do a straight copy. This is the first in a series I foresee doing, to increase awareness to the plight of endangered and threatened animals from around the globe. This First Edition focuses on three of the largest and most endangered carnivores today, the Sumatran tiger, the Amur leopard, and the Snow leopard. These are by no means the only imperiled wild cats, as the majority of wild cat species smaller in average body size than 30 kg are at a critical stage. / / / Because without these animals I would never be able to bring their beauty to you, I am going to pledge to donate 100% of all of my sales proceeds from cards and prints of the imagery in this series here on Redbubble to Wildlife Conservation Society Thank you for your support in the race to stave off the extinction of these magnificent creatures.

Sorry to all those who don’t like “pets and babies” photos… ;) This is my kitty trying to catch a fly on the window last night… The sun was coming down into our living room which gave that nice glow on one side of his face. I was originally going to make it all black & white but I just couldn’t bring myself to leave his gorgeous blue eye out! Update 22/03/2009: / Thanks to all your comments this photo is now on page #1 of the “most popular pictures of all times”! So what would you do if you found a 6 month year old kitty trying to stay warm in an old heating vent…mid January in North Idaho? You’d rescue him and make him a part of your family right? RIGHT!! Meet Bell Bottoms…we rescued our little buddy about 6 years ago…and to this day is one of the most sweetest silliest kitties ever!!

A new kitten season begins April 1 for me with hundreds of new babies .....this is for all the little kitties that will be locked up for months until they get adopted ..maybe they dream of what it will be like on the outside of the cage a few photos that I took blended together

Close up shot of one of our many “barn kitties”. Dubbed that since we have a barn on the acreage and they sleep in it in the winter. :) They’re technically not our cats, since the mother was dumped out here a few years ago and the father is a stray from who knows where. This little guy is part of their second litter.

Watching 100’s of people come and go at the lion section of Dubbo Zoo paid off, after sleeping all day, they started walking around. When he stood over her, and both looked our way, I was in awe with the treat they were giving me for my patience!
