African Elephants have a special place in my heart. They are such gentle giants. The closeness they share within their family group is a true example for us humans! A sense of place / The heat of Africa (as a place) is felt here. The typical African silhouettes strengthens this feeling. This image has been viewed 9500 times since July 2008! Rainbow Nudibranchia is from the planet Tarlis in the Farcedia Galaxy. It is one of a multitude of slug like creatures that populate this ocean planet and the most colorful found to date. Size: 6×6 inches / Medium: Acrylic / Support: Ampersand Gessobord I have many cats that were all rescued from my neighborhood. This is one of them “Hunter.” He is so special to me for reasons that I cannot explain. This connection comes from somewhere deep in my soul. A few days before Christmas, he came down with pneumonia. His doctor’s diagnosis was partially collapsed lung. It really scared me. But his antibiotics has been working so well that he is now almost completely recovered. I am so thankful to start the new year with him beside me. With love and respect to life, I have just finished painting this.

1/2 face challenge My very old long hair feline “Tia” patiently watching yet another snow storm thru our mutual window. Although she is well over 15 yrs old she still has the inquisitiveness of a young cat. She is still fairly playful & active with a love for slow running water from any faucet or bucket & running up trees no matter thier size. Her whiskers are amazingly long and thick. I think she was wishing for spring time to hurry up & arrive. Like me.. I like this portrait of her in the larger view for a closer look at her. She is ultra feminine and a very pretty cat. Thanks for giving a look here Nikon D60/18-55 / Feb. 2009 Ct. Uploaded for the Domestic & Pedigree Cat Group~
... or some food! This is my dear chubbycat Strider. His favorite place for a snooze is in front of my computer screen with his head resting on the cabinet door. He was snoring so loudly that he didn’t hear the camera LOL!!! / (Strider was a feral kitten rescued from a local shelter 5 years ago.)
This postcard sized artwork is a portrait of a cheeky parrot. Measures 5×7 inches, mixed media (colored pencils, black art marker, and gold paint pen) on light orange Canson pastel paper. I thought I’d try a hand at doing some smaller artworks – which actually are more of a challenge for me as I am used to working on a larger scale. I want to also see if I can try doing some ACEO sized works as well in the future. View more of my artwork at http://www.lynnetteshelley.com
