I took this when I went trekking for gorillas in the volcanos of Rwanda. On the border of D.R. Congo & Uganda. These gorillas were around 7 metres from us – and would have been closer if we hadn’t stepped back (you’re only allowed to be as close as 7 metres). We just hung around and watched the family for an hour. It was pretty cool. My profile / / /

Stink Beetles is from an original painting by Karin Taylor. / The original painting won a prize at the Horizons Art Gallery in South Tweed Heads, Northern NSW and subsequently sold at same exhibition. / This was terrific fun to create…...in the end i added googly eyes that you can buy from the craft shop…..and they move around if you shake the painting… lol / there’s lashing of ink, pastel, acrylic and charcoal on this painting, layers and layers of fun and gigantic mess was created in the process…..but from the chaos out came these lovely luminescent beetles that my heart adores….ever since i was little, i have been fascinated with some aspects of nature, particularly beetles, lizards, flowers, cats, foxes, baby birds….i am but a dreamer :) of all these, stink beetles were perhaps my favourite, because of their magnificent shields of luminescent/iridescent colour glinting in the sun as they paraded up and down the tree trunks and either side of the leaves, fascinating creatures….....thought it an appropriate one for Easter Sunday…new life and all that~

Funky Cats is one i did a while ago when my focus was on the animal kingdom, this was in response to the Cheshire Cat from Alice…...he always intrigued me that fellow…...can you see his smile? These cats are from the ‘Friends Series’ by Karin Taylor…..Funky Cats is a mixed media production on canvas textured paper incorporating the use of ink, pastel, acrylics and charcoal….simultaneously :) My father has created a Chesire Cat smile in his garden which is strung in between two trees…..he also has made sculptures such as the Tin Man and many others in his garden of bits n pieces he finds at the Garbage Dump…...a man of many talents, he plants bonsai trees in white ceramic toilet bowls to display as works of art in his garden

San Ignacio Lagoon is one of the best places in the world to see Gray whales and their calves up close. During the calving season you can go out into the lagoon in a small boat (called a panga), and after a short wait, the whale mum and calf will come up to you. They (mainly the calf) love to rub themselves against the boats and also to be scratched! You really get a close up look into their eyes! Then, just when you start to feel at one with each them, they blow salt water in your face and all over your camera! Oil Pastel And Acrylic And Minor Digital Enhancements Concept: This is one of the many in Ophelia’s Love Encounters Series, it’s her experience of many facets of this wonderful thing called LOVE.. This is what she has to say about love today : “Love means being surrounded by redbubblers everyday.” Time rockets! Had some pockets of reflection and guess what…have been here on RB for 2 months already, I just entered my 3rd month :D Life on RB has been so enjoyable and enriching for me but I have one major regret. That is I should have joined much earlier. I remembered when I first joined this community, Fa assured me that this is the most vibrant online community that she has ever experienced and that I would enjoy my stay here…and of course, she’s right!! As I am staying in a foreign country(I’m a Singaporean living in Thailand) and working alone most of the times, RB has given me much support in terms of creative expression and a great pool of friends whom I know care for me. I wouldnt dare ask for more :D Truly grateful for all the friends whom I have made over these months,friends who have constantly provided feedback and comments to my work, both here and in my smile4me gallery, who have favorited my works and exchanged numerous bmails with..I owe my beautiful stay in RB to all of you! This little piece of artwork is me saying THANK YOU to all you beautiful people out there!! :D /
