  • The Frog Who Would Be King
    by amarica

    US$3.42–US$91.20

He did not remember how he came to be here, frozen in this rock, his eyes locked upon the stars. His last memory was that of dining with his twin brother Gregory planning the coronation in which he, Prince Phillip would be crowned officially as the King. His brother had never accepted it well that Phillip was born a few minutes ahead of him placing Gregory second to the throne forever unless something happened to Phillip to remove him from his rightful place. There had been a visitor shortly before, it was the sorceress Portia who had always favored Gregory. But Phillip could not recall even the events that had taken place other than Portia handing Gregory a new bottle of wine. Gregory had poured the wine and handed Phillip the chalice…but…Gregory did not drink. Then the swimming in his head, the room spinning and the clouds rolling in. So now he sits and waits…gazing at the stars…for this nightmare to end, for the coronation in which he will be crowned King. amari (Part 1) If you would like to read part 2 of this story Please click here If you would like to read part 3 and view the art Please click here / ______ I found these fantastic painted rocks on one our outings a few years back in Perris, California. Perris is located off Hwy 215 just Southwest of San Bernardino. Turning west on Hwy 74 is a vast countryside of desert laden with rocks. This is where we came across some marvelous graffiti. The hillside had been visited by the local artists and they had converted the ordinary into the extraordinary, a land of imagination, of creative wonder. The landscape was now a fantasy land. This sparked my imagination and so the story begins. I have enhanced the original image with Photoshop CS3, Micrografx and Photomatrix HDR. / ______ Images Do Not Belong To The Public Domain. • Bruce's Dingo
    by Tiffany Dryburgh

    US$4.28–US$114.00

“My family is an odd one. My father is older than my grandparents. My brother was older than my mother. I am an only child but I have a brother. It is the stuff of Hollywood and my family story is always very entertaining to others and while it does make for interesting conversation it has its down side. Bruce was thirty when I was born and by then had already launched himself into what ultimately became his obsession so I guess it seemed unlikely from the outset that we would ever be close. This has always been a source of sadness for me. But I have always been immensely proud of what he worked so hard to achieve and remain proud of the legacy he has left to the scientific community and the country as a whole. Now that I am in my thirties and finally getting my own shit together, so to speak, I was looking forward to forming a closer adult relationship with my brother. I was looking forward to finding out what it was really like to be somebody’s sister. However it was not to be. I tried to come to see him before Christmas last year but he put me off citing this problem and that. I laughed it off at the time, amused at how like his father he was. I thought there would still be time but he chose not to tell us he had a serious heart condition and it will be a while before I can forgive him for gypping me out of a big brother. We didn’t get to share much but I do at least have the memories of childhood visits with the dingoes, a common artistic flair for photography and above all, and the thing for which I am most grateful, a shared love and passion for all animals great and small, by which to remember him.” / ____________ I wrote this to be read at my brother’s funeral almost 3 years ago now. The obsession of which I spoke was the dingo and this is a photograph I took when I visited his property outside Castlemaine, Victoria after we were notified of his death by the local police. As I say, it has been almost 3 years since his death and I still have not quite come to terms with all that was lost when he died. I have still not quite forgiven him for doing me out of a brother nor myself for not pursuing a relationship more fiercely. I don’t know if I ever really will and frankly, rather than getting easier with time it only seems to be getting harder. ____________ Other Images / All Things Italy / Animals / Fabulous Felines / Flowers & Leaves & Things / Black & White / Urban / Land, Sea & Sky Scapes / Textures & Abstracts / Triptychs (and one quartet!) / 35mm Film / La Serenissima / Other Places & Things
