A Black Browed Albatross chick tests it’s wings in it’s mud nest, getting ready to try flying. A younger chick looks on. / West Point Island, originally known as Albatross Island, was a popular site for slaughtering seals and penguins for oil at the turn of the 19th century. Literal overkill helped to end this industry in the area. / Today many Albatross and Rockhopper Penguins still inhabit the island. /

A dry donkey is happy donkey. The Donkey Sanctuary, Ireland. The Donkey Sanctuary in Ireland has so far taken in over 2,400 donkeys rescued from all parts of the country. Every donkey taken into the Sanctuary is guaranteed a life of loving care. For many it is the first time in their lives that they have felt loving hands and heard quiet voices. The Donkey Sanctuary website contains more information about the wonderful work done at the Sanctuary. You can make an online donation or even adopt a donkey of your very own.
