ORIGINAL FOR SALE $1399 plus P&H Pen and Ink on smooth surfaced paper. Can’t remember what type – walked into the artshop and ran my fingers over the surface until I found one I liked, with the gsm to match. The picture won the Jean Eales Memorial Prize, three firsts in various divisions and best in show. The four alpacas are from my friends farm and are as individualistic as the picture portrays. The big black one at the front, Zack, has covered me with green slime on more than one occasion! This is the colour version of the HDR sunset shot at Mannum that has come up with an amazing dogs face in the lower left portion of the image. Shot taken between Mannum and Young Husband near the Marina. No photoshop manipulation the dogs face just appeared. Dave from mannum was with me that night shooting just a little to my right and the face didn’t appear in his images. Canon 400D polarising filter – 18- 55 lens HDR and converted in Photomatix…

Close up of an African Zebra taken at Buenos Aires Zoo. Probably one of the most interactive and best kept zoos I have ever visited. Animals are looked after quite well, and are being raised in captivity to save them from extinction. The zoo allows a percentage of their profits for conservation of the Argentinian wildlife. While I’m not sure I agree with animals being caged for any reason, it is nice to know that this zoo is here for many reasons, including conservation. Cropped original image and increased the contrast and brightness slightly. Many thanks to Shelly Heibert for creative help with the title for this one! The Gentoo Penguin is listed as Near Threatened on the IUCN Red list of Threatened Species Melting sea ice and overfishing have triggered a dangerously rapid decline in penguin populations on the Antarctic peninsula – a direct result of global warming, warns a new report from the WWF. Temperatures on the frozen continent are rising five times faster than the global average due to the unprecedented rate of climate change, pushing four species perilously close to extinction. Warmer temperatures are forcing penguins to raise their young on increasingly thinner and more precarious ice floes, while stronger winds mean many eggs and chicks are being blown away from their parents before they are able to survive on their own. The gentoo, chinstrap and adélie – along with the emperor, the largest penguin species in the world – are now struggling to survive as melting sea ice destroys nesting sites and reduces vital food sources, such as krill.
