Out chasing these clouds looking for a suitable foreground subject. This is what I came up with. This one took quite a bit of touch up work due to the blur of the sheep from the multiple exposure.

I have a collage I did of a sheep years ago which has wings, that is where this came from. And I believe there may have been a very old Monty Python routine about a sheep that wanted to fly.

Part of a new ICON series which takes ideas from religious iconography, portraiture and art nouveau and mixes it with the artist’s love of animals, abstraction and stylized imagery. The results are both mystical and vibrant. ICON I depicts a ram (Aries). Original artwork measures 11×15” and is created with mixed media (oil pastels, colored pencils, art pens, metallic paint pens) and embellished with colored foil on blue watercolor paper.

Rainy Day – walk / Amersfoort NL – Heiligenbergerbeek NS-hiking path (Dec.9, 2008) Going for a hike is a favourite pastime in the Netherlands. No wonder that so many hike-routes are described and signed, so that it is easy for people to follow the route. / For me personally: nothing as inspiring as picking up my camera and gear, and setting out for a hike, be it here right in my own neighbourhood, or a little further away… With the camera in hand, I discover beauty with every step I go! :) These pics were made during an early morning winter walk in Amersfoort the Netherlands – Two weeks before the “Frozen world – walk”, Stephan, a photographer friend and myself the first part of this same hiking path… Most of it in the streaming rain… :( The dikes are such a typical feature in the Dutch landscape… often, large parts are fenced, so that sheep can roam freely on them… :) When the sheep doomed up before us on the path, surrounded by these majestic oaks, it felt to me as is we were walking into another world all together, another realm… Misty, wet, dark and moody weather, but awesome scenery… Hope you still enjoy… (we did!) ;) ...
