We saw these jumping dolphins (and about a thousand others!) on our whale watching trip to Baja California. Dolphins are a great animal to photograph when they are doing this, but you have to be quick! (San Jose Channel – Baja California –Mexico) / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / /

I noticed when looking at this photo that the swan’s reflection is distorted by the small ripple of water dripping from her beak (as an aside, I love the ripple and was sooo excited to see I had actually captured it… ahem…). It occurred to me that much of the time the same thing happens with us… We look in the mirror and see a distorted reflection of ourselves… that we’re too fat or too skinny, that our hair is the wrong color/texture/style/length, that we’re not smart enough or good enough… But just like with this swan, the reflection isn’t a true representation of what’s really there. The swan is amazing in so many ways, and so are you, regardless of what you think that you see in the mirror. / . / For those that are curious, this was shot with the swan in bright light and a shutter speed of 1/1600s. This rendered essentially everything but the swan and her reflection black, and prevented her feathers from getting blown out. / . / 100% of the profits from the sale of this print will be donated to the American Bird Conservancy.

I was not going to leave the zoo without this image. The beautiful bird, I first saw the outlines of through the man planted flora, gracefully glided across the artificial pond. Its motion cut a gentle trail in the small, evening breeze caused ripples. I set an ambush at the narrow part of the pond and waited patiently. No good. The introverted animal was too edgy when passing by, and emerged in and out of the dark shadows at unpredictable intervals. This was going to be a long haul. Luckily, with the ambient light we both needed running out quickly, my desire to capture the elegant curves of this creature and its routine craving to nibble a bit before the day expired reached an uneasy, but welcomed equilibrium. I held my breath and pushed the button with my cold stiffened finger. Timeless beauty. This is not a great story, just a blurb, with a moral that outweighs its size. The ever relevant message to those who take away your freedom is to realize they will never be able to deprive you of your Dignity, your Grace.

A juvenile male Elephant Seal is looking backwards at the photographer (me) Image was taken at San Semion California. This young male was a part of a group that had at least 500 Elephant Seals. The pacific coast is home for this wonderful mammals and San Semion has several locations where they are protected. This was taken away from the tourist location, and on a streach of the beach where no people can go. distance was about 5 feet away from the animal. 50% of all proceeds from the sale of this image will be donated to the Marine Conservation Organization Consider my other images of Elephant Seals /

Acrylic On Canvas Concept: Ophelia having some solitude, she’s meditating on what love is all about…love between lovers, between friends, between parents and children, between teacher and students, between owners and their pets and etc….the greatest love is when one is willing to lay down his/her life(others-seeking and not self-seeking) for another person whom he/she loves. While painting this, it also reminds me of a famous chinese love tale, “The Butterfly Lovers”....thus a pair of butterflies. It is a tragic tale about how a couple could only find their love bliss after they pass on and both became butterflies.I’m contented to have found my bliss :D View my other “Love Meditations” creations at my Zazzle store:
